Well, there are some new songs rolling off the line. Just for my own purposes, but I welcome others to crowd-source this project, I would love to keep track of debuts of various new songs. I'm gonna post up the three new ones, because I have good intel on them. I'm gonna post up some old ones that I knew or have found off the top of my head. These were pretty much all cribbed from this board just by searching First Time Played. I really appreciate the band and the history of all of it. I am thankful for all the tapers and fellow fans as well.

edit: Didn't see you had added these two
This was my second Yarn show. BJ Barham of American Aquarium was the opener and he was vulgar and funny as hell. Blake sang Mandy in the chorus a couple of times of Annie for his then girlfriend, now spousal unit.
Here's an oldie that might have only been played live once. This is the only show on the archive where this song is featured. It was mentioned that this song would be featured on an album. That never happened. Regardless it's a good song.
I knew that evening that it would be my favorite birthday of all. That's the one song we asked Blake to play and he kindly obliged. Be cause Hopped was on the ball, we get to hear it!
So, if you look at the notes for this one, it is actually marked as "second time played." Very likely the first time it was recorded (frustrating that relatively few shows are recorded, at least to me) but at the time hopped apparently had information or knowledge that it had been played once before.
I was listening to Double Door 2010-09-25 and Blake said, 'We played this one for the first time last night"
I know I've taped a few more FTPs. Will do some more research. I have a feeling we can find First Time Recorded easily enough but unless it is announced there is no way to know for sure.
The new one they played over the weekend is listed as "Take This Time', and it is another good one. However Blake says he is not sure of the name yet, just FYI.
Still have to add Hopped's most recent contribution as well.
Anybody got in idea on Take Me Out? They played it this Sat. at Clementine's. I thought it might have been a FTP, but Ricky said they had played it a few times over the past couple weeks. Didn't see it on the setlists posted, or I might have overlooked it, but maybe somebody knows when they played it first.
I am not sure when they 1st started playing it. I've don't think I've heard this song. Then again I've heard so many new songs it's possible I've heard it and don't remember.
So, I haven't had much time to listen or to update this thread. There have been quite a few new songs that I have heard on tape and even one or two live. However, I have not had a whole lot of time to listen to all the shows lately. Work has been kicking my ass here over the last few months and I've fallen behind. If you have a song that you know is a first time played (and for better or worse I am trying to stick with a first time played, not a first time taped) please put it here.
I would love to chase down the FTP for These Words Alone
This was one of Blake's Morning Songs from back in Dec. 2016? I think. They sound checked it in Harrisonburg when I saw them in March and the plan was to debut it when they made the Colorado run. For better or worse we don't have a lot of participation on the board from that area of the country, so I am not sure when they first played it.
Would love to have a FTP for the following songs as well, please help if anybody knows. I've searched the Archive to see if I can find a recording:
Road Less Traveled--I can't find a recording until Pocket's recording of 6/2/17 goes up.
American Dream Dying--first recorded at Town Crier Cafe on 2/25/17, listed as American Dream
These Words Alone--First recorded on 4/27/17 at Sportsman Tavern, but I believe this was played earlier as mentioned above.
That's what I can find with a quick search through the Archive this morning. These songs may still be recorded somewhere without a title or with an alternate title, or even listed on somebody's setlist on the message board. I will try to search a little more thoroughly.
I heard These Words Alone play in Evergreen, CO on 4-16-17. I'm 99.9% sure that was the first time played since Blake put it out on the Morning Songs. Sportsmens Tavern was the first recorded that I know of.
Thank you Chris, I've added that as the FTP. I also noted that I already had a date up for American Dream Dying, but I'm still not 100% sure that was a FTP. I will try to go back and listen to that one.
Holiday. First played 2010-09-21 at Wild Wing Cafe, Asheville, NC.
As far as I can tell (without digging through every recording) this is the only time this shows up in the Archive, at least under this name. Maybe they played it and it got labeled something else. The taper said the band told him it was the first time they played it.
Also the first time played for Never Been Much of a Man
So in the comments before the Fussin' and Fightin', Blake said that he co-wrote it with a singer-songwriter named Theodore Bundy (unfortunate name). I'd always heard that it was co-written w/ Mandy.
Anybody heard that before? Anybody know anything about singer-songwriter Ted Bundy? I can't find anything but serial killer references in my google search, no matter how I alter it. Possible he was just goofin?
Theodore Bundy was a goof, alter ego for Blake. He came out and played a few songs solo as Theo witha trucker hat and big glasses a few times in 2010. There is a video somewhere of him doing it at an open mic night. I wasn't taking much video in those days, so not sure if I have any footage of Theo Bundy or not.
