...been a little slow around here. What's your top ten all time best Yarn songs?

Agreed empty_pockets, Willin' is a great song. They cover stuff so beautifully, although I always prefer them doing their own stuff, it's too good to waste time on covers... Funny thing is they have covered some of my favorite songs. If I had to pick a cover~ wouldn't mind hearing White Freightliner or Rodney Crowell's Bluebird Wine, I could see them doing awesome versions of those... This post is timely, as my kid wanted to do a stop-motion video for them, but we couldn't figure out which song to do. Perhaps the one with the most votes? Would be great if everyone weighed in on this one to help us pick a song. I personally need more time to think about it... too hard to narrow it down to 10...
I based my list not on my personal faves but on what I feel are really great songs. This defined as those that could be performed by anyone and still be great. Willie Nelson singing Strikes & Gutters for example or maybe Kristoferson singing An Angel in Woodstock....how about Ryan Adams & The Cardinals covering Misery?
Now, you think that was hard? How about your top ten least favorite? ;) Here's a few I've been known to skip over:
Never Been Much Of A Man Annie Down On Your Luck Nashville Time Burns On Alone On The Weekend Honeybear Shine The Light Dark Skies Wishing Well
They're good because ALL Yarn songs are good....just these ain't greats in my book.
Ok, first off, go fuck yourself, Mr. RC for this tortous thread. 10 songs? Really?
I took the Catalog and narrowed it down to my all-time favorites and came up with 30.
Well, fuck-all.....then I lit a cigarette and pressed it into my forearm and forced myself to knock some off.
That brought it down to 17.
Next I shoved a rusty Rapala fishing knive under my thumbnail until I got it to 13.
Then on the way to the emergency room, I poked myself in the eye with my other thumb repeatedly until I narrowed it to your number.
Hope you're happy.
Tennessee Can't Slow Down Music's Only Outlaw 5 Guitars Roadhouse Don't Worry 'Bout Me On The Road Take Me Out Misery Tired of Everything Along The Way
Off the cuff and without too much thought.....thinking if it pops in my head it must leave an impression:
Strikes and Gutters On the Road Don't Worry 'Bout Me Music's Only Outlaw Down on your Luck Cant Slow Down (Slow version is best) Alone on the Weekend Angel Place that Halo Woman on the Interstate All Over Now
Favorite cover they ever did - Standin (Townes, baby!) - 9/11/09 (best Yarn show ever in my opinion. And that opinion I dont waiver on. That show is the best...)
Cover I would like to see: Anything by Delaney and Bonnie...(Trevor could be Bonnie....is that weird?)
Holy crap this thread is hard. I've thinking about this all day. Here's my top 10 in no order. My list changes everyday.
The next 10 songs Blake writes. Lol
On the road Music's only outlaw DBMHA Angel place that Halo Bring Me Down Take Me out Misery 25 years Abilene Angel in Woodstock Oncoming train
As for covers go I would love to hear them cover the following songs: Poncho and Lefty by Townes, She by Gram Parsons, Hallelujah by Blake and the Family Dog, Mercy by Counting Crows/tender mercies. Hmm so many classic songs they could cover. My list would be endless. I saw Blake and Shane sing a duet of Islands in the Stream. Blake played Kenny and Shane wore a dress and played Dolly. It was classic.
