I just noticed this show on Yarn's website. However when I click on the link to the venue it list another band playing that night and no mention of Yarn anywhere. Do any of you have any info on this show?

I do. This is going to be on awesome show. Yarn is opening for The Steve Kimock Band and Seven Walkers. I know Ricky B is fired up because George Porter and Andy Hess are the bassists in these bands. I would get to this one if you can, going to be a great night of music.

HELP ! does anybody know the venue well enough to know if it's worth it to upgrade to the VIP tix ?
  3.
I don't know the venue, but in tapers section Dan Lynch posted wind and the sbd location "The board was close to the stage (maybe 30 feet) but to the far right, which was the water side. I used windscreens and dead muppets and fortunately the wind was not too bad. I could imagine on a different night, you're going to get wind and noise from the river."

fyi-dead muppets are additonal windscreens to eliminate wind phasing for the non-tapers...

You may want to call the venue and ask if the sbd is in the same location and where VIP is in relation to the sbd.

Somebody in the band needs to pull out there Steal Your Face Yarn shirt for this one.

Let's see....some good and bad on this one.

The venue was really cool right on the water under a huge tent. Nice stage, decent sound. Met the band, chatted with sound dude and then went to the bar. I got a draft and tangled a drink and a $20.00 bill wasn't enough!! Well that ended drinking and then the all black staff simply had it out for all the crakers on Jerry's birthday and they went nazi on anyone daring to try to puff...outdoors! cripes. The beach area was blocked off from any view by these big black tarps. That left most of the people not being able to see anything....weird.

Chatted up a taper on the way in and he let me patch...prolly shouldn't have 'cause the cord glitched a channel. Not a huge loss and you can see by the setlist that it was very short. Funny, I had convinced him to tape Yarn (there for Kimock) and at one point, Andrew was shreeeeding it up and I turned back to see if he was watching .....lol, he couldn't have been paying less attention! oh well, maybe he'll play it in his car and actually listen. Bernie stepping up for the Friend of the Devil was actually pretty cool with the ogan sound but not so great on the Bad Bad Man which he clearly didn't know. I think sometimes Yarn is too quick to invite guests...it's generally hit or miss....with plenty of misses. (Blake did tell me though that Bernie was a surprize and just walked on stage). Still, the couple hundred people who arrived early all got up and at attention through Yarn's set. A few folks were very impressed although what can you do in 40 minutes?

Kimock was Kimock with the usual meanderings...several covers played was disapponting and the band was certainly not Mitch, Alfonso and Rodney. 7 Walkers were....meh. Ok and it was cool to see Billy K again for a few minutes but as a band....they didn't keep me from leaving before their set was over. Again, the best band of the night stepped off stage way too early.

......stopped by the cops on the ride home for a tossed cigarette that we didn't toss 'cause we don't smoke...cop was cool just thought it was us.

So all in all, it's always fun to go to the city and it was nice to hang and see the guys but the venue was a disappointment. Really looking forward to a real kick-down in Manchester in a couple of weeks with all the Connecticats~

Great review. That sucks about the venue. One of the reasons I don't drink is because I don't have lots of $$. lol I was planning on going to the show but it started to rain in my neck of the woods and then I got lazy and tired. Plus I kind of figured that the band would play a short set. I gave people a heads up on the phish phantasy tour message boards about Yarn. Someone had a thread about the show. Most of the people did not know who Yarn was. I posted a video to That's just fine and Abilene and said they rock. One guy said he had no idea who Yarn was but checked them out and liked what he heard. My guess is that he watched the video I posted. He then said he will go early to check them out in person. He wrote me a PM saying they rocked and he's hooked. He's also from my home town. So I might not be the only Yarn fan at the beach. I told him to heard over to 5guitars and say hello. I have not heard any other reviews about Yarn.

I must say, I think the Bad Bad Man sounds pretty darn good. And FOTD, WOW!
As far as I'm concerned, Bernie can walk on stage anytime.

Cool snag tous. Eric's the taper I patched to so I won't bother sending mine along....very nice guy. I hope he gets the Yarn bug.

Yeah drifter I didn't mean that Bernie was bad so much as Yarn's time on stage was at a premium and unfamiliar guests can take away from that Yarn synergy. It was cool to hear Bernie's organ but I think it had the potential to grow old quick.
