It's Yarn eve for us Northern folk. Sure I'll see tous there....anyone else up for surf jams? My good friend is coming for his first show and then he's taking me and tangled out to striper fish out of Charleston. I fucking LOVE to be out on the ocean and fresh striper fillets are a nice bonus.
tous, can I lean on ya to make me a copy of hopped's Pour house recording? many thanks.
Well the Ocean Mist is a terrific venue right on the water. Very cool deck area and a big stage. Very tough for taping as the ceiling's too high to clip and the dance floor won't accomodate a stand. Sound man was great and I set up by him. I had no great expections for the tape from there but wow, listening back this afternoon, it's really quite good. I missed the first seconds of the opening song due to a brain fart....the pre-amp really likes to be turned ON. cripes.
Good crowd and lots of dancing so that steered the setlist into Yarn standards with no covers played. It also ended early and abruptly as the house lights came on at 12:50am and 1:47 on the Dat. In any case, it was well played and they gained some fans.

Best part was my good friend Brian catching his first show and loving it and then taking me and tangled out stiper fishing! We got two hours of sleep and headed out the Charleton Breachway at 5.am to catch the sunrise and a slew of giant stripers. tangled caught her first and we both hauled in 33 Pounders! Awesome trip all around amd fresh fillets for dinner!
Good to see the band as well as RC and Tangled again.
The last time they played here, back in a blinding snowstorm, they did a few Dead covers and got the crowd into it. Thought they might take the same "trip" on this night but all originals. Bigger crowd, naturally, and a nice little line for merch. Lots of new fans.
As we heard one fan outside the place when it was over, "Man, the band was awesome!"

Yeah, that DVD is killer. The bonus tracks of live songs from the Isbell days makes me miss that incarnation for sure. They put a lot of work into that film.
....one more note...Brian took us for a ride to look at the Ocean Mist off shore a 100yds. I got to see the beams that were supporting all of us on that deck!
