If you haven't heard, he's got a Monday night residency at Kenny's Castaways. No impact on Yarn, just a side project.

    Andrew Hendryx Band is:

Andrew Hendryx - electric mandolin, slide mandolin, harmonica
Chris Jankowski - acoustic guitar, vocals
    Peter Brendler - electric bass
    Christian Coleman - drums
    Jay Wall - tenor saxophone
Jon Irabagon - tenor and soprano saxophone

Here's last Mondays gig featuring some tasty covers:

I meant to post about this, but I am a known slack ass. I upped this for Andrew. It sounds pretty damn good for the internal mics on a $110 recorder. Andrew wanted something inexpensive to record shows with w/o the hassle of setting up mics.

He's been recording Yarn shows, too. So there shouldn't be many un-taped shows going forward.

Going at lunch today, RC. I know, I know. I'm terrible at this. I processed 7 sets of music yesterday before football. I have 7 sets left to process for a festival that happened back in October. Andrew sent me some Yarn shows as well. I'm up to my ass in recording/processing obligations.

I'll reiterate here that this recording was done on a $110 recorder using the internal mics. It doesn't get much cheaper or easier to become a taper.

Ha, no problem hopped....rapid access to music has never been a part of my dial-up world! :(

I was looking at Andrew's recorder last weekend....it's an MP3 recorder, right?

The Tascam DR-08 records wav files up to 24 bit/96 khz. So it is capable of high quality audio. It is among the smallest recorders available. And the internals are cardioid. Which is generally better than having omnis like those on some small recorders that don't allow enough separation for music recording.

I'm pretty sure he got it at Guitar Center which is pretty accessible for those that like to see something before they buy it.

Thank's for the added info. It looks like I will be heading to guitar Center this Wednesday as long as I am n ot snowed in. That may be just what I need to get started in recording shows.

The cheapest price I'm seeing on a google search is $119.00, from B&H and Sound Professionals. Guitar Center is listing at $199.99. But they may price match. These recorders go on sale quite often and I think I've seen this one for $99 at Sound Professionals before. I've ordered from B&H and SP on multiple occasions and they are both top-notch vendors.

Have you listened to Andrew's early Jazz discs - all covers except one original track but pretty good. I agree about Beautiful Love
  5.
Actually, no I havent but I gotta say that imho, on stage beside Blake is the best place for Andrew to be!

Listening to this was fun but Yarn is one amazing band in all of it's collective parts; I wouldn't change a thing.

Andrew is sending me another show. Apparently Bobby was there and a few more special guests. From the description he gave it should be a good one.

Holy Cow! I can't wait to DL this show. Andrew is the man.

I was amazed when in a recent conversation with Andrew, he told me that he didn't start playing until he was 17!

Cripes, I would have guessed 10 or younger~ I don't know how one goes about ever getting that good.

Cool fact. I thought he was born with a Mandolin in hand. Even more impressive. Andrew does things with a Mandolin that make my head spin. He is a true virtuoso.
