COME BACK TO WHERE IT ALL BEGAN, Thursday, December 16th at Kenny's Castaways in NYC's Greenwich Village, 8pm to the wee hours. Yarn performed at Kenny's Castaways on Bleeker St. in Greenwich Village every Monday night for 2 years in 2006 & 2007. Come celebrate Christmas with the boys of Yarn back where it all began. Bring a toy for Toys For Tots and receive $5 off the admission price of $10. Join Santa, his little elves, and the music of Yarn all night long. We might even bring a little Christmas cheer.

For those of you that missed this killer yarn show you are in luck. I over heard some guy ask blake for a setlist. Blake told him he did not have a setlist they just made it up as they went along. Anyway I told the fuy I wrote down the setlist. He said perfect because his buddy tapped the show. I gave him the 5 guitars address. Expect an upload to archive.org real soon.
thanks earlbny - you deserve a "sick"day after goin thru all that! so jealous ... Yarn @ Kenny's + JWall ... more fuckin snow in Switzerland ... gonna be hard to adapt to this Yarnless new home O'mine
Great to be there, even better that it was taped. Smokin' show. Bobby was perhaps the best I've heard him play...playing everything from the ceiling tiles to the awesome Yarn Xmas tree on stage (you had to see it).
Shane and his wife made the Yarn wreath (with actual balls of yarn) that hung center stage...just a great Yarn-themed Xmas decorated stage.
Andrew was very animated and he and Jay traded off some pretty nice licks, especially during Roadhouse.
It was my pleasure. Mad props to Shane for his hard work with the toy drive. Shane said they raised the most toys out of any bar the marines were at collecting toys. It put a big smile on my face knowing that I helped out a less fortunate kid this holiday season. As always the band brought there A game last night. I have to give a shout out to the Tattoo girl in cow boy boots that pushed the table away up front by the stage and got everyone dancing. Prier to the dancing there were lots of people in preppy clothes at the show talking up a storm and there to drink. Once people started dancing they quited down or moved to the bar. It was an epic show. This was hands down the best Yarn show I have ever seen. You just had to be there. Each band member had a moment where there body became possessed by demons. lol At one point Andrew was playing a solo and his eyes were closed and it looked as if Jerry entered his body and took over. He just could not stop. lol There was a lot of heavy solos. What amazes me is the fact that J wall can jump on stage having not played with band in a while and jam like hes been playing with them everyday. I am still on a Yarn high from last night. How is a Yarn not the biggest band on the fuckin planet? I always leave a Yarn show thinking this was the best show I have ever seen and there is no way they can top this show. Then I see them again and say the same thing. lol Like a fine wine they just get better with each show. I could have spent $$ to go see Furthur and it would not have even come close to Yarn and I only paid $5 at the door. The band told me that I have to go to Schenectady. They even said they would kidnap me and throw me in the van. I can sit on Shane's lap. lol I am down with that. After saying goodbye to the band and wiping the drool off my face I took a train back to the beach where my head finally hit the pillow at 4 AM.
nice review earlbny! i can't improve on what you said except to say What A Night!! Who plays 2 hour sets? Yarn, that's who. Nobody else I know of! What a Blast we all had! Great to see the band expand their sound with the Sax. So many great people there! Yarn was on Fire, and I danced my ass off! Thanks, guys!
yes it was everything you said it was. if there is a way to post pix here ill post them im new to this site so i dont exactly know how to navigate it. boys from brooklyn done good last night. tbone
Yup. This is Bob from HomegrownRadioNJ. So, I've seen Yarn at Phanphest, Crossroads, Fountain House, Stanhope House, and now Kenny's Castaways. I think I originally discovered Yarn on bt.etree.org or achive.org when I saw you had jammed with Tim Carbone & John Skeehan at Fountain House a while back. I had downloaded that show, freaked at how great it was & played it on my Radio show immediately!!!
Understandable point of confusion there. Blake writes the weekly Reckless Companion newsletter but I'm just the fellow who grabbed the moniker when I set up this site. On the rare occasion that Blake types, he goes by the DrunkenAngel here at 5G. So that's that. Again, great to have you stop in and here's to yer next Yarn show ;)
Last night was # 26 for me so I may still be leading around here but tous is closin' in fast!
OK. Just uploaded my first-ever show to the Archives, it was Yarn's Fountain House set 10/30/10. (see new Thread!) Next up is a Fresh copy of The Kenny's Castaways Holiday Ball. So, bear with me, I'm new to this process! I'll get it uploaded soon!
T-Bone (Taper Todd) captured last year's (2010) 1ST ANNUAL CHRISTMAS YARN BALL - @ Kenny's Castaways - NYC 12/16/10 - He gave me the Files, and I didn't get around to uploading them right away. Then, due to the Seasonal nature of some of the Christmas songs, I thought it would be best to let it age a bit like a fine Whiskey in a Barrel ! So, here it is, in it's entirety, some 3 hours of Yarn consisting of the Full band including J wall on sax! Enjoy it and HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON!!!
Much Love to Yarn and all The wonderful Yarniacs! <3
