Whoa, what a time to be alive. Lots of Yarmy in the house this weekend. 5Gers empty pockets, Tennessee, suemck2, and Southern Man. Also Twerkwood and the McElreaths, the Utah Andersons, plus many others. Too many to list!
I taped Blake in the round at Beers, Brunch, and Ballads. Other than that I saw maybe 5 or 6 Yarn tunes including a couple of The Last Yaltz. I was home before they struck the last note. Looking forward to empty pockets' recordings.
I did capture lots of great stuff at the Pine Grove Stage, so look for links here soon!
We had beautful weather Friday and Sunday. Saturday was actually great between, and after, a couple of big rain events. Ca caw!
Just a tremendous, tremendous weekend. I am exhausted. 5Gers included Bob and June and YokoLoveForever.
Blake sang two new songs at the breakfast including the We Will Never Be the Same that earlbny posted the other day plus one called Lucky 13.
That was the largest collection of hard-core Yarn fans I've ever been a part of. It was great. Great Yarn set, Great Last Yaltz! Can't wait for the recordings. Thank you tapers and thank you Yarn!
Lots and lots of other great acts this weekend. Robert Randolph was awesome, King and Strings, the Wood brothers were among my favorites.
Can't say enough about this festival, very impressed by how smooth the logistics were.

Kendall Street is a band that got together here in Charlottesville while going to college and continue to live in the area. As such, we have had quite a few options to see them at local gigs. We missed their set at RoosterWalk, but glad you got to see them. Definitely a fun, groovy vibes and we will go see them again.

After hearing about Rooster Walk for a number of years (especially from the band) we decided to give it a whirl. I can say now that Rooster Walk was just awesome. If you are ever looking for a cool festival to check out RW can be recommended (IMHO). This was year #10 for RW and many kudos to these folks for putting on a great festival. It is really a chill gathering with a great vibe. Excellent lineup and nice set up, size wise etc. Good food, good beer, good folks all around. Wood Brothers, JJ Grey, Robert Randolph, Billy Strings etc. all were excellent. Full transparency (as usual) we saw a lot of music however we really drove that 8 hours to see our friends. We saw plenty of them, meeting some of them for the first time was indeed a pleasure. So how was Yarn? They were just freaking fantastic! Saturday was an afternoon set and they were running strong right out of the gate. They never missed a beat , even during the 15 minute deluge we got hit with. By the way no one moved during the storm. ( Hope someone got Saturday's set) Yarn closed out the festival Sunday night with their interpretation of The Last Waltz, or as it was billed at RW The Last Yaltz. I could go on and on here, so my suggestion is to listen to the recording and make your own judgement. Full horn section, Josh Shilling on keys, Ricky B. and then Rod on some lead vocals. Bobby pounding the skins. Blake with barely a voice left giving one of the best vocal performances I have ever seen him give. Just an incredible 2 plus hours of music, with so much talent on the stage. My count is that there were 18 people on the stage to close out The Last Yaltz set. These guys seriously worked there asses off to get this done. Rehearsals on both Saturday and Sunday maybe even Friday. I cant even imagine the endless phone calls and coordination that it took. Don't know how they pulled it off but it was one that will never be forgotten. Congratulations and thank you to all.

I can't wait to watch the Jammy Jam. That was the one tough choice I had to make the entire weekend. All other conflicts I had a clear preference (or was a little lackluster about both of them). I chose Robert Randolph and the Family Band and I have absolutely no regrets about that choice but I would have liked to see this set as well.
