If you are not familiar with the Green Parrot, I wanted to make you guys aware that they do have a webcam set up on their stage, so if you can't make it you can at least stream the show on the 25/26th.
I watched both shows last year. It was the first time I ever used a USB cord to stream something from my pc to the TV. It was so cool to be able to be at home and watch YARN on my own TV. I'm really looking forward to the shows this year. I wish we could get video for all their shows but the live streaming is great.
It's not the same as being there in person but it's the next best thing. I can't think of any other band who can play 6 set in 2 days without using a set list and not play the same song twice. The band is as tight as ever and gave it everything they got. Most bands would have to use a set list and eventually run out of gas. Yarn on the other hand could have kept going for days.
Calm down Southern Man, I am sure you did not miss much. The schedule at the "Parrot" goes down like this, 5:30 - 7:00 for the first set. 9:00-12:00 is broken down into 2 seventy five minute sets, so 6 sets total. I can tell you two things about this event #1 these guys seriously busted their asses for two straight nights. We all know the effort that they put into a show, but this is just incredible. #2 the Green Parrot is truly a Yarn's fan ultimate heaven. 8 hours of music over the course of 30 hours or so. 78 songs in total with only 3 repeats, a few covers (only because the owner loves covers). Did a bunch of new stuff and 2 that I had not heard before. As far as rarities, for me personally some tunes I have not heard in a while Wishing Well, Listen Up Sweetheart. If any of you ever get a chance to get to Key West when Yarn is there PLEASE seize the moment. I sometimes think I could not possibly love these guys more than I do, and just like that I do. Thanks Yarn for being the best and hardest working band in all the land. You gotta get up, to get down.
ITA Bob. Years ago I had this vision/dream of seeing Yarn play a sold out Beacon Theather or dare I say MSG. I still have that vision/dream. One day they will be rewarded for all the hard work that the band puts in. The band is not flying in on a private jet to Key West. A lot of blood sweat and tears and miles go into putting the shows on.
I'll echo Bobs comments. They busted their asses. So many songs packed into 2 days! I know there were several new local Yarn fans after last night. The Parrot was awesome. While I did have an overwhelming sense of guilt for not writing down the entire setlist to share I quickly absolved myself, my apologies.
Thanks for all the facts Bob. I just so happened to be on a train trip to stay at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel in Staunton Va to help celebrate my brother's 65th birtday! So I was very pleased to be able to hook up my pc to the room's TV and have 2 nights of great music with family. Like Ken I did not hear every single song but the ones I did were GREAT! I stayed up to midnight each night though to the very end of each show and went to sleep happy. My son and family also came over each night and brought the grandchildren who are also Yarn fans. One exciting moment for me was when I was giving my granddaughter her bath and realized YARN was playing Hello Sweetheart- I switched out bath tub fun to listen to that song- a must. I actually asked Yarn to play that particular song when they played in Danville however my timing was too short notice so they didn't get the request on time but they did play it the following week at one of their shows (thanks to Hopped UP I think for the show's recording.) So I know they tried to honor my request. One of these days I will get to hear it live.
I'm glad the owner likes covers though because Candy Man was GREAT along with Slip Slidin Away ( I can't get that tune out of my head now for days.)
I did have some annoying pc issues to contend with but all in all I was really happy to have Yarns music and family for 2 nights together. Maybe I can plan to go to Key West"s Green Parrot one of these years as Bob says it is a Yarn fans ultimate heaven.
Here we go Yarn fans. This is my most valiant effort ever. I feel pretty confident on this one. I have to give a shout out to Tennessee for his inspiration.
