    Ha, still can't find it but I'm sure pleased by the news. Manchester, CT has a Yarn fan base that adds to the show~ I really like the venue too.

    This will be the third this year so I added a date to the title.

    Ok, verified w/Major Tom (their booking agent) that this is indeed a good date. He was going to ask the band to get it on their site and their myspace page.

    Yet another configuration of Yarn! No Jay (due to family emergency...hope everything's ok) so this was acoustic Yarn! Let me assure you that there was *no* episode of MTV Unplugged that matched this. None.

    2 sets of about 90 minutes, a few covers (Neil, the Dead, Ryan Adams, Canned Heat), lots of pickin' by the band and grinnin' by the crowd!

    Gotta go Mapquest Burlington!....

    What can't you do? Good one tangled, that's exactly it. They had to scramble and make something out of the sitch and they pulled it off splendidly. I'll have time for a Reckless review at some point but I just wanted to pass along that our aud recording came out very nice. We only have the first set mastered so I'll confirm set two when I get it.

    thanks for the setlist help. quick listen i believe what i got sounds good too. minimal crowd noise. hope to have something soon............after FURTHER thought i made the right choice w/my plans this night. a real smoker of a show!!!

    Gald you made it John and thanks for taping. Man, you couldn't DRAG me to that Furthur crap!

    The only song that I'm not sure of the origin is the It's Too Late. Couldn't find it in google...Yarn perhaps? Someone? Great song~

    Ha Ha....I ain't worried....any woman who's known me would throw rocks at Trevor! Um, right ;)

    So I cannot stop listening to this first set. I also can't stop busting Jack's ass to get the second set mastered! Very glad to be part of this evening and I'll write one of my full reviews once I do get the second set. Thanks to Jack and JohnD for taping and extra thanks to the band for allowing it. Yarn is a very special band and I'm more amazed by them each time I see them.

    Wait till y'all hear the slow and slinky version of Can't Slow Down or the soulwrenching version of One Of These Days or the succinct but rollicking Up The Country or the.......cripes what a show.

    Wow. What an awesome sounding recording! This is seriously good enough to be an official Yarn release! Thanks John.

    Anyone have contact with the owner of the Pub? He's obviously a huge fan and should have a copy of this.

    edit:forgot to say. i usually bring him copies of whatever i tape there if it comes out good when i go there again.

    That's the correct setlist for the show, Jack's recording sounds good but it's a little crowdy in places. So glad to hear that JohnD's came out so well.

    Me tangled and Jack set out last Friday runnin' late as usual. Made it in time anyway but the band was soundchecking when we got there and it was obvious right away that Freddy Jay's kit was absent. In true Yarn spirit and fashion though, the guys forged ahead and made the evening something really special. It really would have been a shame if this one didn't get recorded for you all to hear. Aside from the covers that were unique, rare and owned by Yarn, the acoustic alternative versions of a few of the Yarn songs were really fun.

    First off, the opening notes to You Don't Love Me Anymore got me grinnin' right away. Such an awesome song that's simply not played enough and it was first time I heard it live. I wondered if there was some difficult part of the "Yoooooohooooooo don't love me anymore" part that's tough to do live but nope, Blake nails it perfectly and it was a really fun run through a classic.

    Blake introduced It's Too Late as a new Yarn song that's likely to be on the new record. Another wonderful piece that indeed should make the record but then, which ones should'nt? He said they recorded 24 songs and they'll need to cut it way back so cripes, what's gonna get cut? Do they make double releases anymore? or hell, how about multiple albums in one year? Ryan Adams can do it ;) In any case, I was chatting with Blake once and we chuckled about how not too much good happens in a Yarn song; that and in keeping with that recent interview as well, this one delivers:

    Christopher St was very clean and Andrew picked some wonderful runs.....that carried into the Music's Only Outlaw as well. Blake said that they had never played it without drums before but it worked very well.

    Next, Rod put his guitar in his lap and played slide. This version of Strikes & Gutters is very different than you've heard. Slowed down and changed up, it has a new feel to it. We then got treated to a full on version of the Canned Heat song they blogged. It' s as great as you'd expect and sounds like Yarn could have written it. One Of These Days we just splendid and it was a treat to hear Trevor get a verse. Song of the night for me was the Can't Slow Down. Always a favorite anyway, this one is rearranged and jammed out superbly.

    Set 2 brought an early Roadhouse also played too infrequently and a first time for me. I know it's a tous fave too~ followed right away by another beautiful Angel In Woodstock.....ain't heard a bad one. Feel So Low is another fave and Trevor and Blake made it a sweet version. Can't hear 5guitars too much and as usual, Rod owns this song, very tasty playing. Abeline too found some new ground. If anything came up short, I'd say that Freddy Jay OWNS Don't Break My Heart Again and I look forward to his next one. This was well played as was the entire night but I just found myself really missing Jay here. Pale Blue Eyes was another treat before the Cat & Mouse that had Rickey B all over it! Great acoustic jamming to end the show.

    Blake could have written Oh My Sweet Carolina, it sounds like a Yarn song for sure and Blake makes it his own. Being a huge RA fan, that's high praise~ Speaking of Ryan Adams, back on his early tours, he used to play an electric set and then start out set two with a couple of acoustic songs before switching back to electric to finish the show. It was a terrific format and it would be great to see Yarn do that. From toursongs on the blog and covers to reinventing yarn classics, this acoustic approach was interesting enough to dabble with a tad.

    So that's the final show of '09, an awesome year of music for me because of Yarn. Can't thank the band enough for all of their hard work and time on the road and for sharing it with the taping and trading community.

    Once again Yarn proves just how good they truly are. Even without Jay & electricity they brought there A game & made the most of it. In my opinion Yarn is the most underrated band in America. Do they ever put on a bad show or write a bad song? Thanks everyone for all the hard work. You all truly rock.

    Many thanks for the show tous and to JohnD for that awesome snag. Sounds great even though I can still hear that chatty B_tch during the early parts! ;)

    Just so impressed with this show and the talent that they bring. May I be so bold as to suggest a format for the 2010 shows? Electric opening set, then set 2 starting out with two acoustic songs before going back to electric to finish the show. That used to be a splendid format that R Adams used to do. In that slot Yarn could do a blog song or other cover or even re-work a Yarn song like they did with Can't Slow Down or Strikes & Gutters on this one. Just seems like this format brings out some intriuging creativity....and the drummer can have an extra smoke!

    Again, if you could wear out a CD, I'd be needing a new copy of this one~

    I love that idea. And, yeah, that CD helped us get through a recent ride home from Boston through a blizzard !
