You know, in some union halls, the band does have to pay for board access/recording permission. Some of the fees ain't cheap either. They wanted a couple grand or more at the Apollo last Halloween for Ryan Adams. Jon (production manager) came out and told us that they just didn't want to shell out so much.

So as we packed up gear, Jack nonchalantly slipped his DAT into his coat, traded tix with LaC and stealthed it from the 12th row aisle! Saw the band after the show and they were psyched that we had snagged it. The Apollo staff sucked.

All bands/halls allow recording, some of them just don't know that they do! We've amassed a pretty decent library of stealthed shows uncluding a couple dozen Dylans. Some of you may own a couple of them. Stealthing's a lot of work and it takes some luck to get a good one. I can't imagine though, that the Dylan crew couldn't snag tapers if they really wanted to. We're white, we're male, we're between 25 and 50. We're plainly dressed in the first few rows. We don't clap and we never leave our seats. I mean, c'mon, how hard can it be? ;)

I was at that Apollo show and this guy sitting behind me got hassled by the security. He took his gear and left. The Counting Crows have an open taping policy however some of the crappy bands they have toured with do not. My friend D was planning on taping a Crows show when he got yanked out of a GA show. He explained to the security that Crows allow him to tape shows and that he could care less about the other band. Finally they agreed to let him back in and tape the Crows.

I managed to play around with Sullivan Hall show and make copy of the show. It’s 1 big MP3. I know it is not high quality but it’s the best I can do and something is better then nothing. I will upload it somewhere for all of you to download. Of course there is to be no money prophet from my work.
