I'm going to be sporting my new Yarn T-Shirt that tangled and my graphic artist friend came up with. I think it's killer and I'll make one for folks who dig it~
Hell, if the band likes it, they can use it as well.
This Is The Year Your Company - new unnamed song Bobby Weeks I Hate You I Let You Down My Sweet Dolly - new song Can't Slow Down The Dirt Road Empty Pockets Falling - new song Austin Tx 1972 Down On Your Luck I'm The King Let Me In Carolina Heart Look To The Future - new song...guessing at the title. The Loner...ROD! It Took A Long Time Listen Up Sweetheart Cat & Mouse Living To Die - new song Hard Times Lucky Man This Is My Hometown - Springsteen Turn The Light Off Bad Bad Man Woman On The Interstate
I knew well enough to take Blake at his word about the four piece band but I can't say that I didn't hold any reservations. I no longer have those reservations....wow, did they come through with Blake's promise of giving us a memorable show. Seems that Rod left the speed playing to Andrew as a matter of course, not because of any lack. I think I can safely speak for the old school fans when I say that we've simply never seen Rod play like that before. When The Loner opened I said ok, let's see what we have here with Andrew's staple. What we got was Rod's! Whew....just blistering stuff.
The stars all aligned last night, from escaping a huge traffic jam and still being able to snag our taping table, to the most respectful and attentive Tiger crowd (barring one particularly annoying dipshit) to this killer show with 5 new songs introduced. What band creates new songs like this one? I was the only taper and I'm so glad I set up. We were expecting to see CD2GO but he was a no show.....you missed a scorcher James. The recording is just terrific; as good as you can get out of the Tiger. I'll try to master it soon for everyone. Truly would have been a shame if this one wasn't recorded.
Great to see everyone and nice to meet up with you Bob, if only briefly. On the one hand, it's too bad the place wasn't packed and at the same time, it was nice that it wasn't a big chatty crowd.
Most folks seemed to dig the new shirt design I printed so if there's call for it, I can make more and as I offered to Blake, the band is free to use the design if they'd like. Just ask.
So, many thanks to the band for taking such good care of us. We don't get to see them like we used to so I think maybe we appreciate them more these days.
Thanks for the review. I can't wait to listen to this show. Yarn is the hardest working, most prolific and underrated band in world. BTW I would love a new Yarn shirt.
My full review soon, but holy mother of god! This is the band in its finest incarnation. Perfect synergy, unique sound that is defining them as a band now. Best set of my almost 80 shows. (Did I actually critique Bobby kinda harshly when he returned? I did and I will happily eat crow. His playing is better than ever and he blew me away last night)
And it should be noted. They SLOWED DOWN Cant Slow Down. Its been years! Thank you guys! And cat and Mouse, and Sweetheart, and instant classic new ones, and Rod owning The Loner and the fans showing him the love.
This is Yarn. I really believe they have found each other and their sound. Now the songs can shine their brightest.
Oh, and we got a happy love song. One of the new ones. What does that tell you about heir mindset? Its a happy rebirth for this amazing band who just happen to be the friendliest guys on the road as well....
Very nice to meet Tous and Reckless last night. jgoods21sorry we didn't cross paths hope to meet you soon. Always nice to be out there in different places and meeting people of the Yarn Brother and Sisterhood. It s is a pleasure to talk to people who appreciate and love Blake, Ricky, Rod and Bobby not only for the talent they share but for the people they are. It is a wonderful thing to be part of, thank you all. Thank you Reckless for the set list and the review. Can not add much more to those words. However I can echo the fact that they were truly SMOKING HOT!!!!! last night. A solid 2 1/2 hour show, spanning the career of Yarn. Cat & Mouse to Listen up Sweetheart to Empty Pockets to Dirt Road to the new tunes which at first listen (and this should come as no surprise) are just freaking awesome. The product these guys continue to bring to the stage and the intensity they perform it at never fail to amaze me. Rod and Bobby have been unleashed and what they giving us is a look at how A-list musicians play. Ricky B. continues to shred the freaking bass. I don't even know if you can shred a bass but this guy is doing it. Blake gets to that mic and as always dazzles with his vocals. I have no idea how he can do that four or five nights a week. The new stuff that is making it's way to us is some of the best stuff that they have done (IMHO). The writing has gone to another level and does not go unnoticed. A big thumbs up for adding Bobby on vocals, just another dimension added to the show. Yes I could go on and on. Lucky for all you folks there is a Yarn show in Brooklyn tonight that my better half and I need to get ready for. 11 PM the boys hit the stage. Geeezz the hours I'm keeping.
Can not wait to hear this recording. Those of us in attendance know how special this one was. Love the shirt Reckless and would be proud to wear one. Please give me some info on how.
These guys have climbed the mountain and I second the motion...
Got this one mastered to disc but my home PC has some issues so I'm reluctant to try my first upload. Tousky, would you mind if I mailed it to you to post for us....just like old times? ...and can you whiper your current addy to me?
Really nice recording and I'm stumped as to which of the new songs I like the best. All 5 are killer~
As for the T shirt, I'd like to offer it to folks but as of yet, there are no formal plans. So if you'd like me to print it for you, the offer I'd like to make is this. Send me a garment (t-shirt sweatshirt etc.) or two with a self addressed mailer with return postage and I'll print them for you and mail them back. It will be printed in black so the garments should be light colored. Just whisper to me and I'll provide you with a mailing address.
Thanks Reckless and Tous. The recording came out great. I am loving all the new songs. I can't seem to pick a favorite. It changes with each listen. No disrespect to Andrew but the band sounds better then ever. This is the year of Yarn.
