Back in June of 2014 Yarn played a show at 89 North in Patchogue, NY. This show features the best version of Music's Only Outlaw you will ever hear. This show has never seen the light of day until now. I tried to upload it to the archive but I am not very good. When I play the original wav file it sounds pretty good. When I split the tracks it sounds pretty bad. I tried to edit the tracks using Audacity. I keeps getting pops and other sounds coming through my recording. I want to share this show with all of you but I need some help. Any chance one of you can off up your service and expertise and help me out. You can DL the master file at the following link.

Both channels were clipped, but the left more so for sure as it was causing some distortion. I scrapped the left channel and copied the right over and ran a hard limiter since the clipping wasn't that bad. There was some handling noise in the first part of it so the easiest thing to do was scrap that too. It's only a few seconds of really low intro/tuning kinda stuff. I'll try to track it out this week. I can up it or send it back to you if you need the practice with uploading to LMA. It can be frustrating.

I would recommend running 24/48 in lieu of 16/44.1 and running levels a little more conservatively. Was this made with internals from a DR-08?

Thanks a million. I used the internals from my DR-08. I placed it on an empty table and hit record. I made zero adjustments except for using the built in stand and moving the mics Maybe I need some better equipment or just more practice. I got a quick ow to from Andrew Hendryx and he told me it's hit or miss and depends on the room.

It sounds really good for internals. If you could check levels during sound check, that would be ideal. I usually do that or check with house music pre-show and assume the show will be much louder. Also, I like to watch levels until I hear a song that I know will be among the loudest. If levels are good then, in a lot of cases I just check back in every once in a while to make sure recorder is still running.

The internals on the DR-08 are great. The only drawback for it in its class is the lack of a screw port for 1/4-20 threads that allows you to easily mount it to an extension or a stand. Location, location, location is absolutely key. If the room sounds like ass, there is not much you can do. In the case of a tough room, I'd get a mini-stand and rig the DR-08 to it and run onstage. Between Blake and Rod's monitors would probably be good if the stage is tight enough.

Two stage lip Yarn shows that turned out pretty well:
