Well, that was a party! It was our first time attending, but we had high expectations after hearing several people speak very highly of it. The new venue is beautiful and you couldn't ask for better weather. The lineup was great but two 2 hour Yarn sets were the major selling point. The first set was from 10-12 Friday night on the lake stage and according to my notes went something like this- Hope for better days Austin, TX 1972 Down on your luck Fussing&Fighting 25 Years I'm so tired Christopher St Don't break my heart again>drums>dbmha Summers end Will it go round in circles Turn Light off I'm the man (somewhere around this time the guys from Dangermuffin started making their way out on stage) MUSIC'S ONLY OUTLAW!! Let it bleed Can't always get what you want Into the mystic (with all dangermuffin)
Josh Schilling (mountain heart) sat in with them for all of both sets on a B3 organ, wow, he really brings it and does it without overpowering the rest of the band. ....
And then, it was time for round two, a 2:30-4:30 set on the main stage. In the past it's always been a challenge for me to really get wrapped up in a day time set by any band, but this one was damn good. Josh Schilling was back and it got good quick. 5 guitars Tennessee The Loner (southern rock song) Let you down Lucky man I hate you 1 mans trash Statesboro Strikes&gutters All over now lies I've told Bad bad man Salt creek Woman on the interstate And then we finally got our ABILENE! Lastly, they did a tribute to the late B.B. King by covering The Thrill is Gone
Both shows were top notch. They looked like they were having fun, I know we were. Thanks Rooster Walk and thank you Yarn! We will be back!
