I meant to post the link too. Guess I made a liar of myself, too. I said I didn't think I'd ever seen Trevor, but he was playing at that show, so I was wrong. Not quite sure how they fit six people on the stage at Clementine's. That stage is none to large for 4 and tight for 5.
What a terrible place to see a show. Has to use stage lip source as the crowd was a rowdy bunch of douches. Typical college bar. Opening for Possum Jenkins. First night of a three night run that took Brouche and I from the Triad to the mountains to the Triangle to the Outer Banks.
Yarn opened for Sanctum Sully. Yarn killed it. Crowd made a mass exodus after Yarn. It was a CD release for Sanctum Sully. Same thing happened the next night in Asheville. Moral: Don't hire a band that is on fire to open for you.
There are some reall gems here and the sound is great, IMHO. This show was nine days after my ex-wife blindsided me with the information that we were no longer a couple. I went through hell for a long time and still dwell on it a bit more than I should. I hit depths of depression I didn't know were possible. I don't know that I would have made it without music. Particularly the music of one Mr. Blake Christiana. So I send a heartfelt thank you to Blake, Yarn, and anyone else whose music helped me get through it.

Five years ago today, Yarn played the Tin Angel in Philadelphia, PA. We rolled into town from NYC still high from the show the night before. We grabbed some cheesesteaks at Jim's on South St. and hit up Eulogy and Triumph before we had to head towards the venue. With a little time to spare, we ducked into the closest spot to the venue, Khyber Pass Pub. The bartender apologized that they were having a Russian Imperial Stout event and that's what all the taps were. No need to apologize, m'am. We got our first taste of bacon grease popcorn. Mmmm... The show started out low key but built into epic versions of MOO and DBMHA. After the show a few of us chose to crash back at the hotel. The party animals followed some local crazy chick who literally dove into the rear floorboard of a cab thinking the cabbie couldn't see her. Apparently there was a rule about the number of people that can ride in a cab. I don't really know what those other folks did, and I'm not even curious. Anyway good times with good friends Brouche, badlab, and empty pockets and the Best Damn Band In The Land
This is the show I was able to attend because my ex asked to switch weekends. Then she saw a picture of me at the show and went ballistic saying I dumped my daughter to go to a Yarn show. She asked me to switch. I had no plans to be at that Yarn show. Psycho, but the wounds were still fresh at that point, I guess.
On this day in 2005 Yarn* played their first gig. Trevor, Blake, and Andrew drove up to Cold Spring, New York and played at an unknown local establishement. No setlist, but the songs consisted of a mix of Grateful Dead tunes and "bluegrassed-up" versions of some Family Dog tunes. They also had an amusing side trip to look at Pete Seegar's pottery.
*They weren't called Yarn yet, that would come about 3 months later. As far as I can tell, they didn't have a name at all.
Seven years ago today. This was my fifth Yarn show in three days, having seen them in Charlotte Friday, Hickory and Morganton Saturday (x2) and then at The Rooster's Wife:
On this day 13 years ago proto-Yarn played their first gig together, a mix of Grateful Dead tunes and bluegrassed up versions of some Blake and the Family DOg songs. Happy Birthday, Yarn!
Whatever happened to bgreen? He hasn't been active here since 2013 and not on taperssection since 2014. I think I remember mention of health issues, but never heard any specifics.
