The rain showers cleared out and made way for a nice sunset as we rolled into Johnson City for the boys return to The Willow Tree. Beautiful venue, we were greeted by the owner outside and she was clearly just as excited as we were! The opening act, 'The Heritage' from Winston-Salem, had already started. I really enjoyed them, they definitely kept he blood flowing!
Finally, show time! I love 'Take the Win' in the opening slot! The band was feeling it by the time they started 'I'm so tired' Next was a well received 'no future together' a surprising number of people around our group were singing every word! JC loves some Yarn! A few sing-alongs followed with 'down on your luck', 'fu', and 'bobby week's. The whole room was moving at that point. Andrew stepped up and started playing one of my favorites, Salt Creek. Blake and Andrew stepped off for a minute and we were treated to a Rod, Rick and Cemre jam session. The band was at full force again for a beautiful take on 'woman on the interstate' Blake said something about the next song being new, I didn't recognize it and some of the details were getting a bit fuzzy by this point. 'MUSIC'S ONLY OUTLAW' wow, what an incredible song, arguably the highlight of the night. The other side of that argument came next in 'eminence front'. You need to get to a show and see this one. The soft notes of 'Abilene' we're next. I love the transformation in this song. It reminds me so much of Widespread Panic. Rod smiled and then blasted a great big 'dazed and Confused' jam. Probably one of the longer versions of this song that I've seen, and I loved every minute. A loud , rocking version of 'tn' appropriately end the set. Blake and Rod came back and played one more for us, if I had to guess the name maybe 'last call'. Those guys are machines, they played so hard and seemed to have fun doing it!

My dad and I woke up in Asheville, had a nice waterfall hike near Erwin, then hit breweries in Abingdon, Bristol and Jonesborough. It was Blake and Ricky on that Bar Down The Road encore, wasn't it? Unless I was drinking too much and saw things. It was a great set. The boys are on fire. Abilene is always a highlight and it can be in every set as far as I am concerned. I slept in a hammock in Teri's front yard and woke up looking up at the willow tree that inspired the name. I have a ton of recordings to process this week but I'll try to get Yarn done.

I like the new song. It's the same one a taper posted from a sound check at The Press Room in Portsmouth. The crowd was lighter than I'd hoped. There was a large contingent from NC.

Listening to this one now. The idiots at the table just in front of the soundboard are louder than the music. This one is going on the rock pile :(

Found this on my work computer. I had processed it, mixing a little more SBD than usual because of the chatterbugs. Then I forgot about it.

Eminence Front is a highlight. I think it only appeared May to November last year.
