    Hey guys!

Robot Armies Media, Yarn's media company, is putting together a compilation CD for street teamers to hand out to people and places so Yarn gets spread, viral style! We are using a few songs from the upcoming album and wanted to include some tracks from Empty Pockets & Yarn's self-titled album as well. Give me your top 3, and we'll decide what goes on it from there. If you want to help out with this Yarn movement, join the street team!

Thanks in advance, I'm hoping this CD helps get the word out to an even broader audience.

    Lies I've Told
    Music's Only Outlaw
    Woman on the Interstate

    Great idea !

Tous - Thanks for your input, but damn, even more choices now...hehe...anyone have any favorite live performances from the archives page that they like? We'd like to include at least one live song so people can hear the energy they bring to a live show, not to mention the crowd going wild. :)

This is an excellent idea. I am constantly mentioning this band to everyone
I come in contact with. Now I can actually hand them a CD and let the music do the talking. I find that sometimes when I describe the band to people they give me a funny look and think I am weird.

There are too many songs to choose from. It’s hard for me to narrow it down to just a few. Some of the live staples for me include the No future together and cat & mouse sing along and the jammin Music’s only outlaw or the drumtastic lol Don’t Break My Heart Again. If you only listened to the albums and never heard them or seen them live you would have no idea that they can jam like the dead or that they add Jay Wall on the Sax and Rod on electric guitar. Yarn has so many different sides to them and we need to be able to showcase all of them.

earlbny - EXACTLY! This is why I want to include some live tracks on this compilation. I will most likely put up a web page where these songs can be downloaded, and then burned onto CD's to give out. That way, we can keep it grassroots, show that there are fans who want the band to get more exposure and really showcase the different sides to their music. I agree with you 100% on that, they have such different live sets that you can't get from the albums. The albums are great, don't get me wrong, but the live element that Yarn brings to a performance, it's just awesome to hear them jam on it. Thanks for your input man! I'll let you know when this is ready, I have your email address. :)

Top 3 songs: Ain't That A Sin, Lies I've Told, Music's Only Outlaw (I also really love Tennessee, but it seems more likley, based on other votes so far that these three songs have a better chance of makin it.) I just saw them in Charlottesville last week and let me tell you the jams were OUT OF THIS WORLD (minus Trevor who was sorely missed). The crowd was small, but as Blake put it, "The spirit was there"-so so super fun!!!
I am with you, earlbny, I am constantly spreading the love about Yarn, and think some of my friends think i am gettin slightly obsessed. However, after these folks end up seein them live, they realize I'm not crazy and that Yarn's music is truly a worthy cause to back up!!

My concern with a venture such as this is keeping alive as much of Yarn's commercial appeal as possible while still "spreading the word."

I usually have several extra copies of shows or dvds I've recorded with me when I attend shows but I don't just walk around handing them out because I try to be sensitive to the fact that the guys like to sell their album CDs at shows. Who's gonna shell out $$$ when they're getting handed free stuff? I usually give them to folks I chat with who are obviously fans and already have Yarn and Empty Pockets. I also notice who buys the CDs and I sometimes offer them the freebies.

In the long run, yes, the more exposure the better but we've still got tanks of gas to pay for to get to the next gig so I believe there's a balance to be struck.

"We are using a few songs from the upcoming album and wanted to include some tracks from Empty Pockets & Yarn's self-titled album as well."

Again Mandi, I don't know the whole plan but I would think that a freebie, here's-a-cool-band-you-never-heard-before CD would be very short, like maybe 3 songs in all. If it's a few plus a few more, it may be more than what's necessary to accomplish the job, no?

    Christopher Street
These bars Don't Look Too Friendly or No Future Together
Don't break My Heart Again (live)

Boy, there sure are some tough choices to make to cut down their awesome catalog into three or four!

I saw this thread a few days ago... and I cant for the life of me narrow it down to 3! :)

I do know I cant stop listening to at the moment..
    Schenectady
    Abelene
    Bars don't look to friendly

and still trying to get over obsessions with..
    Empty Pockets
    Cat & Mouse (Live)
    Ain't that a Sin

    Then theres now the classics...
    Cant Slow Down
Dont Break My Heart Again (Live)
    Musics Only Outlaw

    Have I helped... ? Probably not :)

Reckless - This CD is for hand picked fans to hand out to places like record stores, coffee shops, etc. in their area that they think would be into the music, not for people to just give away at shows, because yes that would defeat the purpose of selling CD's. I don't know how many songs are going to make the cut, that's not my decision, I'm just trying to get a read on things. I know my top songs, and it's alot more than 3, but I wanted to see what others thought as well.

Thanks for all your input, the CD is in the works and if you want to help out let me know!

mandi, I was away for a spell away from my computer and now it's back to school time....yikes...but I am still working on a package to mail out to you. Hang tight!

Included in that will be a copy of set one from Lake George that is very high quality. Perhaps something could come from that. We also got a board of the last Manchester show. It has some weird quirks and Freddy Jay's not loud enough to my liking but one or two of those are really clean on the vocals.

Reckless - Sounds good! No worries...

What I'm waiting on is for my buddy to remaster the killer VT show so that I can make copies. Holding up on Ponz too but I'm buggin' on my friend to get it done. Ha ha, we were at dinner the other night and I asked him if he'd heard the VT version of Lovelight, going further to say that Lesh ain't got nothing on that. Of course he scoffed til I reminded him that the last two times we tried to listen to live lesh, we turned it off! SNAP.

Finally got the Vermont show remastered and hopefully got a copy into Ponz's hands so Ponz, if you can throw that up on archive or something, I'm sure folks will dig it.

    ....Mandi....hope you got yours too.

Sweet sounds great RC! I've been out of action for a couple weeks, great to see some more shows surfacing!
