Hey RC, I saw on taperssection that he allowed taping at a recent show. Not sure if it's all cool again or what. May be worth inquiring if you're interested in rolling.
  2.
Yup, read that thanks. I was also bantering about it at 3 dimes. One of us will ask and if the answer's no, the other will just do the best we can to stealth.
  3.
Well Kudos to Jason for letting me record and I gotta say, for the rear half of a barroom, it sounds fantastic. Lot's of punch.

So a funny story. We got there late for a number of reasons and the place was already packed. No tables available and nobody taking any names for a waiting list. There's this other cat waiting in line for the next table so I joined him in line and we made small talk and discussed how tentative this "line" was. Door dude's telling folks that the waitresses are taking care of the order of waiting for tables. Of course, this is false, they couldn't care less. Now people are really starting to pile in and step past us. I approached two folks in a booth and asked if they were staying for the show. They said no but they were waiting for a waitress. The next table I ask has two folks at one of the pedastle tables on the main floor....right were we set up a stand to tape Yarn. Those folks too were not staying and in fact, were about to leave and I could have that table. Cool.

So I go back to the folks I've been waiting in "line" with and triumphantly tell him the table's opening up and would they mind if I joined them so I could place a mic stand. His answer flatly, no. My wife and I haven't been out in a long time and we want to be alone.!!!!!!!!!!! You're fucking kidding me. This entire place is one hour away from being literally elbow to elbow and you think you're gonna have a fucking candle light dinner?

So now it's getting nuts and folks are clamoring for tables. I next approached a waitress and told her that I had been waiting a long time and was willing to continue to wait but that the booth that the first folks would vacate is MY table. She nods and goes away and I return to wait by the door patiently. Fuckface and his bride take the pedastle table.....alone.

After another 10 minutes and dozens more people shuffling past, I approached the booth again. Before I could speak dude says "nobody's getting your table." I smiled and he said he'd been watching the whole clusterfuck and noted that I had waited patiently. I was so psyched and appreciative...the booth was prime for setting up gear. When they finished, he called me over and gave me the table. What an awesome guy....many thanks as they leave.

Now, the reason for all of this typing is that it's a karma story. I look over and now fuckface and his wife are kicked off their table 'cause they aren't eating and then those tables were all removed from the floor for the show and he and his lovely bride got stuck standing with nowhere to sit while I was now in a spacious booth with food on the way. I was gonna ask them to join us.....NOT!

I recall a similar situation back a few years ago at my first Yarn show. All the booths had been taken. When I approached a couple in a close up booth and asked if I could join them they said sure, go ahead. That was the Tous's and the rest is history on that. How hard is it to just be decent to folks?

Very psyched that my recording came out so good. It's a small place and the 400 Unit was LOUD. Things are much clearer listening back. I sometimes get looks with these shotgun mics in small places but man do they put the crowd in the background and man was it packed in there.

Thanks Jason and great show. He plays the same set every night so I have no desire to get to the next show but it was nice to finally see him. What a talent. tous, if I send you this, will you put it up for us? I'll try to master it today.

"He plays the same set every night"

I saw him earlier this week. As we were leaving the Mrs. asked me if I enjoyed it. I told her I thought it was the same set list in the same order from when I last saw him several months ago. The only difference was Amanda Shires was on Viola this time. The venue had about 100 or so less people than the last show too. Maybe it's time for him to take a break or work on some new material.

Good stuff. I just picked up his live album. Can't wait to hear your recording.

"Maybe it's time for him to take a break or work on some new material."

Or at least build a better band. What he should do is make up with Hood and Cooley.

He's one of those artists who has to play his hits 'cause he doesn't have that many. This tour is called the quit-fucking-around-and-play-outfit tour.

God I hope or boys don't ever have to do a quit-fucking-around-and-play-Music's Only Outlaw tour.

    ....I think you'll dig the recording earlbny~

Outfit was played right after Never Gonna Change so the tracks are all off by one from that point on.

...if ya get a chance, can ya fix that?

Pretty sure Isbell isn't down with the archive. May want to check with JohnD, but you can't just go posting things in Community Audio just because the artist doesn't have an LMA page. If I am wrong about Isbell and the archive, carry on as you were.
  7.
Thanks hopped. I was actually wondering about that but he didn't specify any sharing restrictions.

I posted the link at 3DD and nobody has said anything and they're pretty good about expressing the artists wishes there.

I'll e-mail John D and ask him to make sure.

    ...thanks tous.

I see a few shows on there and one is from 2009 and has 2,225 downloads. It may be okay. As a taper I'm cautious to ruffle any feathers, especially on a bird so easily ruffled as Mr. Isbell.

Anybody have John D's e-mail...I can't find it.

Also tous, this show has the DR-08 internals listed but it was actually with the pre-amp/guns.
  9.
    Thanks.

Its gone for now. I do not believe he is archive friendly. I hope all who needed grabbed it ;-). If anyone hears otherwise please let me know as I should be able to put it back

Thanks John and thanks for the heads up hopped. So sorry that I screwed up and I certainly hope I didn't cause any trouble.

Jason's new album Southeastern is absolutely fabulous so run out and buy it all.

...and the great news is that he's coming back to the Arch Street tavern in Hartford on 8/4!

His album is one of my favorite albums of the year so far. I've wore this album out ready. I like this album better then the other DBT members solo albums.
  12.
I like 'em all but this one is terrific. Traveling Alone and Super 8 are the only clunkers for me.

The Ryan Adams influence is undeniable. Copycat opening leads on two songs. Songs She Sings sounds like Afraid Not Scared and Yvette sounds like Kindness from Ashes and Fire. There's a Dear Chicago vibe in Different Days too.

So true. ITA. I thought Ryan did some work on this album?
  13.
What a fantastic album! I really liked the last one, but this one is magic.

Never really listened to him much until he opened for RA here in Australia and been a big fan ever since..

RC/tous... I'll need to grab a copy of the show off you somehow ;)

Do you still have my e-mail addy ant? I'll gladly snail it to you. It's one of my favorite recordings I ever snagged.
