    Why of course he could if he lived in the right state! Maybe he can get a certain someone to submit Carolina Heart as a co-write...

    Two of the three musician judges are from right here in Greensboro, NC. I see Laurelyn a couple of times a month at a local residency gig. She wrote Anna Lee that was on Levon Helm's Dirt Farmer album. Rhiannon Giddens is in The Carolina Chocolate Drops. They are just a drop in the bucket of incredible songwriting talent here in NC. It might be harder than you think to win this one.

    Here's one from Dave Willis of Possum Jenkins with amazingly talented local singer/songwriter Molly McGinn singing backup. The song is based on the official state toast.
