Welcome, Guest

Well we have a new (used) Volvo and tangled and me are off to try it again in New London tonight. I'll probably just being audio gear as it looks like a pub that may be tough to film.

    Update tomorrow am!

Sweet! Have a great night... hope the new used Volvo makes it this time :)

Thanks ant, this trip went a little easier for us. Sadly, it was the band's turn this time. They left NYC at 200p.m. For a 2-3hr drive that took 7hrs as they got locked into a rolling parking lot on US95. Ouch, truly, I felt their pain but damn were they in a good mood after a piss and a cold one!

Very strange layout for this small music club. A larger bar with a lower ceiling area for the stage. The main speaker bank was on the right side and a the smaller set outside of the beams were just to feed the bar. Anyways, weird hall and a tough tape. I wish I had brought an omni mic but I was stuck with shotguns that need to be aimed. Andrew was louder most of the time from his monitor so I had to swing one mic that way. Sound's surprisingly well for all of that save some areas that get crowdy due to a small group in front of us. The No Future is pretty much ruined with a loud dude, back to the band, barking out a long drinking tale that lasted the entire song; but for that fellow who was more intent on the ladies than the music, it could have been an A.

The show- holy shit, with an afternoon like they had, small club/crowd and a trip out to Buffalo afterward, they could have dialed this one in but it really turned out to be a long shredder with everyone ripping hard, esp Jay who was LARGE all night.

    Soundcheck: Mama I'm So Sorry

    Down On Your Luck
    Bad Bad Man
    Contender
    Christopher Street
    More
    Schenectady
    Dont' Break My Heart Again
    This Whole Zoo
    Tennessee
    Music's Only Outlaw

    (set break)

    Alone On The Weekend
    NYC Found
These Bars Don't Look Too Friendly
    Lies I've Told
    Strikes & Gutters
    Woman On The Interstate
    No Future Together
    Don't Worry About Me
    I Gotta Go
    Wanted To Get High

First time that I've heard both Schenectady and Strikes & Gutters and thoroughly enjoyed them both. First time hearing Mama and Contender live, ditto on those. Just a great show all around. Hard focused playing on the long standards Don't Break and Outlaw. I figured that they would finish after Gotta Go and was expecting a Cat & Mouse when they tossed a curveball and ended with a splendid Wanted To Get High. After a really loud and aggressively played show, it just fit in perfectly.

I lied to my boss today, so that I could, get away.....

    ;)

That's about it kids. kees, ant and you other folks across the ponds, how I wish you all could come to see Yarn live. One day~

that was one of the funnest shows so far, thanks to ya'll,
it was great to see everyone. got to meet a bunch of the yarn family & friends last night
i'm hoping that some of them drop in here. *hint hint*

sounds like the commute to new london was a bit of a drag but
they seemingly shook it all off and played really well. the whole show was very
loud, but good loud and jay freddy made music's only outlaw his bitch ! Whoa.

rod, if you are reading this, i'm still laughing about the
baby-finger-eating monitor lizard ~ you can't make that stuff up !
    ((thank you andrew))

be well guys, till next time i remain . . . tangled up in yarn

Great review and great setlist. Sounds like Yarn put on another killer show. I hate it when people talk at shows. I have heard Schenectady (not in person but on a boot) and I like it. However I have never heard Strikes & Gutters. Must be another one for the new album. I love it when a band throws out a curveball. I have gone to shows where I guessed the whole setlist without knowing it beforehand. I like it when I don't know what's coming. I am glad to hear that you and the band made it.

Great to see them in our backyard here in New London! If only more people stayed to see them :-). The Bank St. runs a "Blue Collar Happy Hour" every Friday from 6 - 8:30 or so that features Americana/Roots music, so a lot of people check that out and then book.

Welcome to 5G tous. I assume you were there. I want to try to re-run my master audio recording of the show but don't hesitate to ask for a copy.

I'd love a copy...already indebted to you for the DVD of Manchester and the Lake George discs. You going to the Main Pub in Sept? Hopefully, a bigger crowd there.
