We had tickets to the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and needed to take the trip, seeing Yarn was playing in the home of our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, it seemed appropriate to make this apart of our trip. First let me say, if you haven't been to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, go. It is simply amazing, and very much overwhelming. We made the trip with our 4 and 8 year old, so that was an adventure in itself, but the Hall is simply amazing. After our tour of the Hall, we drove to Pittsburgh, checked into our hotel and made our way to the outdoor free show. We said hi to the boys and Blake's first words were "This should be interesting" Apparently this was the first time the plaza had this set up. Basically an plaza on a corner with a huge fountain. There were some sculpted eye ball chairs and a few rows of seats for people to sit. It was hot as hell, the band hit the stage at 5 pm, temp 100. They opened with the appropriate Wishing Well, being that they stood about 10 feet from a rather large one. They played two 50 minute sets and were super as always. We were able to swing some beers from an adjoining bar who let us take beers from their patio which made the heat a little more bearable. The locals who inhabit the park were interesting to say the least and there were a few other Yarn fans in attendance. A bunch of people where taken by their sound after they mentioned they were from NYC. We were glad to be able to schedule our trip to include an extra Yarn show, Pittsburgh is a great little town, we had a good time walking around and seeing the sights.
