So the venue's website says 8PM doors/10PM show and there's an opening band... So would that have Yarn starting at 11:00-11:30?

I'm thinking that Sanctum is the headliner since it's a CD release show for them. I could be wrong and will check.

A little Yarn is better than none at all! Opener or headliner you should come out to support the band if you can. If we don't show up because it could be a short set then you put it in the venues mind that they can not draw. Support the band no matter when they play!

Pre-show/post-show at Sessions across the street. Bring your earplugs and stand close to the stacks 'cause the room sounds like ass. I'll be running on stage and SBD for this one. I do believe Yarn is opening. I'm going to encourage everyone I know to come out.

I just wish the room sounded better. Their old location was much smaller, but had decent sound. I used to tape at the old Blind Tiger all the time. I rarely tape at the new spot. Little Feat and Donna the Buffalo actually sounded pretty good in there, but they travel with their own sound guys who didn't turn it up to 11 and knew how to EQ out some of the room's deficiencies. I'm not an expert, but some acoustical panels hanging from the ceiling would work wonders for the room, I believe.

Blind Tiger website has Sanctum Sully as headliner.

......maybe it's something about the name Tiger as ours up this way doesn't have terrific sound either. If only every place was like the Hiro Ballroom!

    Have fun y'all~

Well, the drafts are $4 at Blind Tiger. Bottled micros are about the same and they have quite a few varieties. I think a High Life is $2. So BT definitely has that over the Hiro. And it's about 600 miles closer to my house. And there is plenty of free parking.

Although the Blind Tiger in NYC was pretty awesome hopped, they had beer at our favorite price, and really good beer no less.

Glad I asked for clarification; I blew by the Blind Tiger's web page earlier and just assumed it was a Yarn CD release show! I'll be there regardless and earlier is probably better for me anyway since I've got a bit of a drive afterwards.

What time are you guys getting to Sessions? And are you planning to eat there too? It looks like they have a small selection of sandwiches and such, so I'll probably grab dinner at home then a small bite at Sessions if you guys are going to eat too. (Gotta have my food planned out! ;)

I'll probably hit Sessions around 8:30 or so. They don't have food but you can bring it in. I recommend Sticks and Stones, Old Town Draught House, Stamey's (BBQ), First Carolina Deli or Jack's Corner Deli if you want to eat close by. I've heard Bianca's is really good Italian and it's about 100 yards from the Tiger.

There is usually a really good hot dog stand set up outside the Tiger when it gets late.

Thanks for the tips, hopped! In that case, I'll get some take-out and see you around 8:30! Looking forward to it!

BTW - I was looking at the Blind Tiger's location on Google street view and noticed a Power Ranger and an anorexic Shrek walking down the street just west of the club! Apparently there's a costume shop at that location :)

I believe the costume shop is gone.

The little strip there has changed quite a bit since the google van came through. The Blind Tiger is in the old Baby Diaper Service building (I know, I know).

"The Blind Tiger is in the old Baby Diaper Service building"

So that's why the place "sounds like ass"!!! ;)

Unless I had too much to drink sitting on Session's porch Sunday, the costume shop is still there. I distinctly remember a lagre pink bunny costume in a store window across the street.

Probably both. I had my back to the costume shop. They have 2XIPA at Tiger now. So that's a plus.

Hoppy Yarn Day! May get to Sessions a little earlier. Forgot I had today off.

Sounds good, hopped - I'll try to scoot out of here a little earlier too; especially since it's going to be a long day here with two boys inside the house on a rainy day!

Happy tunes and safe travels you lucky cats~

Great energy last night from the guys. I would hate to have Yarn open for my band. They killed it. For a crowd about twenty times the size it was the last time they played here. The sound was actually decent, too. I'll try to get it done today since it was a one hour set. Lots of new Yarn fans were made in the Gate City last night.

Hopped speaks the truth!!! Awesome opening set - short and sweet; jammed pack with as much Yarn goodness as one hour could hold! I don't know how a newbie would not walk away a fan! Great to see you and Brouche, hopped, and to meet more kindred spirits! Missed you last night, badlab - and where was the Dancin' Machine?! ;)

And thanks, as always, for taping, hopped! I thought the sound was alright too - Andrew's harmonica on That's Just Fine was as clear as crystal...

    Ah, good times... :)

Archive's servers must be bogged down. This show (and my Tin angel) is up but the derive tasks are taking forever. So it may be a while before it is streaming.
