Yes, I did make it to the floydfest and what an awesome festival indeed! And how lovely it was to hear YARN on a beautiful sunday morning in the mountains!
I heard some really good comments and chatter from people at the fest and thought everyone would enjoy hearing all the positive vibes that were floatin around. Comments went as follows: "YARN was kickass and I bought the CD as soon as I heard them"-(that from a few people), "They are a really tight band", "They don't seem to have any idea how good they are!"-(modesty is good!), "I've never heard anyone jam out on the bass like that!", and last but not least "The mandolin player could be the next Sam Bush!"-(not too shabby!!) And I say: Any day is a good day in my world that I get see the boys jam out!
So based on what I heard, I'd say the fest was a success, despite the crazy schedule and lack of sleep! congrats boys! -abugg

Awesome! Thanks for the info. Dancin' Dave is a guy who rents campsites at major festivals. He gave Yarn a big shout-out on his blog as one of the best new bands he heard at the festival. (New to him!) I'm so glad they had some converts at Floydfest. I'll definitely be out there next year.

We saw the Saturday night show in Raleigh and while most of the fans were there to see the Charlie Daniels band, Yarn put on a great set and had lots of the old-school biker dudes dancing away. They loved Blake's growl and the outlaw country sound of the electric guitar player. They played a lot of songs off the new album which was great. I wish they'd play "Ain't That A Sin," "Christopher Street," and "Can't Slow Down" more often, but whatever, I'm just happy to hear them play anytime I can.

After a quick listen to local hip-hop/funk combo Blount Harvey, the day's first big dose of excitement came during Yarn's set in the beer garden. The band sounds more like Oxford, MS than their hometown of Brooklyn, NY. In song after song, impeccable harmonies gave way to epic build-ups that took flight behind Kang-esque electric mandolin. In the early afternoon on the festival's smallest stage, the sound Yarn gave their audience could have filled an arena.

There is also a pick of them further down.

if you go to jambase.com and register as a user you can comment on this review. If everyone starts talking up Yarn on this site it might turn some heads. Also this site is pretty cool. You can make an account and then have you own calendar of live shows. Check it out if you have never been there before.
