Updated post-soundcloud: I'm glad I didn't go too far into detail on my earlier post about the album on soundcloud; it should be Yarn's big reveal, not mine ;) I guess that link was sent to the magazine for their listening pleasure, not the general public's... whoops!
So alls I'll say for now is: I have seen the promised land!
Figured it'd be pulled ... Listened to it all day ;) made my heart soar since I'm so Yarn-deprived here in die Schweiz Here's the track list:
Dirt Road The Loner Tired of Everything Annie It's All Over Now Almost Home Liquor Love Soft Rock Radio Heart Worth Breaking When the Summer Ends I've Seen the Difference Fussin' and Fightin' (Singing Jim Croce) Turn the Light Off Desperate Amy
I never closed the link so I've been able to listen to it non stop - must have good Yarn kharma ;) it is kind of weird to hear such short versions of all the tunes. This CD is gonna hit big I can just feel it. I can't wait to watch it shoot up the Americana charts - I hope the boys finally get the recognition they deserve.
I hope you are right sue. Nobody deserves it more then this band. I am so anxious to hear all the songs I have heard for years. It’s going to be weird to not hear people talking over the songs and have them end under 4 minutes or so.
Track listing in different order than soundcloud. My guess is the last link was the accurate one. These seem random but I could be wrong. Maybe I'm old school but the track order and album listened to in order is important to me. That being said, I'm listening and loving right now. Pre-ordered my copies for friends and family, and will eagerly await their arrival...
Please bring on the real thing. While this is so satisfying in so many ways, this compressed mp3 "tinny" sound is annoying. Can't wait for the full, rich, sound of the actual album! not to mention the charm of the vinyl!
Off the charts! Loving every second. Thought Come On In would be very hard to beat but this ones got it. Absolutely, beautifully fantastic. Just greedily want the full booming bass, layered sound of non-compressed music. The audiofile music snob in me coming out! :-) That being said, this will be playing in a loop for a good long while....Tiger in a few weeks!!!
Oh yay - glad you all are getting to hear it too! The order is different, so I wonder what it'll be! I agree with jgoods that the composition of an album is very important; when it's right , it just enhances each song so much! The song list has such variety, no doubt it'll make for a good ride!
Getting caught up on the archive 2/16 show, but I've opened the link just in case there's another disappearing act. Thanks, stoney and good call, sue! :)
I caved. The band hit a home run and knocked it out of the park. That was my reaction after listening to the 1st track. If this album does not become a hit then there is something wrong with this world. It's weird to listen to these songs and not hear people talking. This album is so different from all the others studio albums yet it still has that signature Yarn sound. They are all so talented. I hope this album finally makes then a household name and puts them on the map. I can't wait to hold the album in my hand and look at the art work and maybe read the liner notes and just soak it in.
More electric than the others but still (hopefully) radio-friendly.
I was surprised to see "I've Seen the Difference" on here as it wasn't one of my favorites live. I have to say though, I love what they did with it. Very, very nice.
Almost everyone I have told to listen to Yarn has come back and told me they are too Country for them. I then tell them to see then in concert and they make up excesses. I have explained how Yarn’s live show is like listening to a completely different band but nobody seemed to care. Almost Home is the album that could finally convert them. If you don’t like Almost Home then you just don’t like music. Lol I am not a fan of Country music yet I love Yarn.
