Did anyone else notice the crazy scheduling there? The band is headed to Floydfest in Virginia and will play an afternoon set on 7/25, then hop in the van and drive almost four hours to Raleigh, NC that night to open up for the Charlie Daniels band downtown. And then head BACK to Floydfest for a Sunday morning set! Now that's some dedication.
If any of you are even considering Floydfest, I highly encourage you to go. It is one of the best music festivals out there. Very well run, mellow, and a fantastically diverse lineup from world, folk, bluegrass, and roots rock, to funk, jam, rock, trance, and shred, all in one place. The site is beautiful and since they own the land they have been building permanent stages and structures over the years. You can camp on-site and the beer garden is second to none. Excellent microbrews and a stage inside the garden so you don't miss any tunes. My wife and I have been going for a few years and am only missing this year because we can't travel that far from home with a baby due any minute now.
However we will be going to the Raleigh show as it's just down the road from us. So at least we'll get a small piece of Yarn this weekend!
Everyone have fun and if someone does catch Floydfest, please post a review!
I hated to miss this show, but I was in Asheville for Bruce Hornsby at the Biltmore. Now that was amazing! I will be at the upcoming Raleigh show in Sept, though!
Floydfest was amazing! Beautiful mountains, delicious veggie friendly food, and awesome music... couldn't have asked for much more... I had to dip out of my volunteering gig as the official "floydfest greeter" to catch the 10am show where the guys rocked just as hard as the day before.
so glad i made it. I'm living up in boone nc these days so i'm not sure if i'll make the raleigh shows in september, but i'm definitely thinking about the rhythm and roots festival out in bristol if anyone else'll be there.
