Yarn's most recent Reckless Companion mentioned that they will be playing SXSW for the 1st time. I am so happy for the band. This is a big deal and could really help the band get that much closer to world domination. Today I got an email that one of my other favorite band (Counting Crows) will also be playing the festival this year. I am so tempted to go. Has anyone gone before or have more info for me?

I've not been but have had friends go in the past. If you are thinking seriously about it, decide soon. I've been told hotels fill up quick and can leave you staying a good ways from the venues.

Once Yarn added the NYC show I decided not to go. It was way to much money. I thought I would give this thread a bump because tonight's the big night. Austin is not going to know what hit them. I would hate to be the band that has to follow Yarn. They are going to turn heads melt faces and blow the roof off the place. I can't wait for the reviews.

Great review of the SXSW showcase:

(And finally validation that someone else sees Jimmy Page channeled in Andrew's playing! I've felt a little alone in that thought... :)

Wow great review. Jimmy Page is a major compliment. If only the rest of the world saw that Yarn would have a lot of Zepp fans/music lovers check Yarn out. We should post this review on a Zepp messageboard. I found this Zepp message board and just registered. I am going to post that review along with a link to Yarn doing Dazed and Confused. http://forums.ledzeppelin.com/index.php?/forum/12-other-bands-music/

Well Earlbny... you definitely get the gold star. I am all talk and no action in comparison. Awesome. Can't applaud your efforts enough.

Def props earlbny but I gotta say, the only time I hear anything Zep is Rod's solo in Abilene....aside from that I get zero Page influence. Guess that's music for you....Garcia sure, Metheney okay, even a little Kimock occasionally but Page?

I figured that's what most of you guys think! I wouldn't say it's all the time, but from time to time. Case in point - Andrew's solo during this version of Abeline:

The reviewer also said the singer of one of the opening bands sounded like Amy Winehouse but I hear more similarity to Joan Osbourne. I think you're right, RC - I guess our personal influences play into what we hear... :)

Not sure if Mandy would appreciate Blake having some Chris Isaak In Him... After a weekend with hopped and Brouche, I couldn't resist.

I think Andrew sounds like Andrew and Blake sounds like Blake. I was just cutting and pasting that info thinking that maybe we can get people talking and a few more fans on board.

People still talk about Led Zeppelin?

Lol!...at dead.net they still go on and on about some fucking version of playing in the band over another. cripes people, Jerry died 17 years ago.
