This is really cool and something I'm very proud of so I thought I would post it here. Yarn will be doing an interview with a 2-3 song performance at my work place - Saturday, February 11 sometime before their show at the Main Cellar in Hickory, NC. The interview/performance will be with the MESH, a multi-media broadcast source (a division/wing of the company I work for). I'll post more information when the interview is up but in the meantime, the site is http://themesh.tv/ if you want to check it out in advance.
Watch out MESH, Yarn is coming to town! The MESH won't know what hit em!
Thanks for getting us in Chewy... I know all of us that were able to watch Yarn get interviewed by the coolest cat in Hickory were very grateful and the acoustic performance was cool as well. I know it will sound great. I will make the others wait to listen to hear what they played and the little nugget that they dropped on us during the interview.
Yarn is a bluegrass band following a trail blazed by Mumford & Sons and the Avetts and are part of the Nashville machine that produces garbage like Eric Church. So yeah, he was pretty much spot on.
Performances are great in this interview, as always. Definitely the best part of the session. Sorry about the interviewer...he's not part of the company I work for but just does the band interviewing portion for the Mesh. Part of the issue, besides him being cheesy and not doing his homework before the interview, is they usually stick to local, regional bands. Since I have a connection, thought it would cool to get Yarn in here to do an interview and studio music. Just thought I would provide a little background here...
The "duh" and "dumb question" moment for me in the interview is when Chad (the interviewer) asked Blake and the guys how long it took them to get to Hickory, NC from Roanoke, VA? Who freaking cares?
RC, here's just a taste of what you missed from the interviewer (some paraphrasing):
"Yeah, I'm in a local cover band. We do some Kid Rock, some Usher." (actual quote) "So you guys are a bluegrass band. Are Mumford & Sons breaking down doors for you?" "We've got a local guy that made it big named Eric Church. He really has nothing to do with your style of music, but i think we should discuss him at length." "I deal in unused ant farms." (actual quote) "So I was helping this lady move today and she says someone gave her daughter in Raleigh free tickets to tonight's show. I don't want to put anybody on the spot, but who's banging her?" "I know I mentioned bluegrass a little earlier because I'm a clueless douche who knows nothing about your music, but I want to bring it up again because I'm a clueless douche who knows nothing about your music."
Now Now ladies and gentlemen, publicity, even bad or uninformed publicity, is good, remember "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about." — Oscar Wilde
Also, maybe Chad had a bad day.
Consider Erin Burnett. I liked what Erin Burnett did with Yarn and Firefly, but did you see Erin's rebuttal to the Stephen Colbert "flushing" her for "flicking" ? C'mon, Michael Jackson's "I wanna Rock with you" - WTF. Now she had a really bad day !
