I see that the band is booked at Sullivan Hall on Wednesday, December 28th @ 11:30
PM with show being booked as "Phish after party" with a Grateful Dead theme. OK, So, I get that the 28th is the first night of four nights of Phish @ MSG but what is meant by a Phish afterparty ? Are Trey Anastasia and Mike Gordon going to show up and jam with Yarn ?

I also see that Bill Kreutzmann and 7Walkers are scheduled for Sullivan Hall on December 30th just two days after Yarn.

Being that they are all in town maybe somebody should invite Bill, Trey and Mike to show up to Sullivan Hall and jam on some Phish/Dead/Yarn selections.

    Hey headzilla,

usually an afterparty is a concert after a concert. The afterparty starts after the main concert ends and usually gives the fan enough time to travel from one venue to the other one. There usually is no obligation for the main concert acts to stop by. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't, but rumors will fly either either case. Also, any venue can host an afterparty and call it such, so there maybe several afterparties.

I know Yarn just did an after party after Railroad Earth over the weekend and Tim Carbone stopped by. Yarn has played with Mike Gordon before in Vermont, so the possibility exists since there is a relationship.

When I saw Widespread Panic at Red Rocks last year, there were many afterparties. In Raleigh, NC 2010, I went the WSP afterparty at the Pourhouse both nights. The first night Dave Schools showed up and played the entire set with Jerry Joseph. The second night, no one from WSP showed.

The greatest challenge is if your one of us crazy tapers who wish to record both events. You pretty much have to plan to set your rig to take down fast and set up fast. At the second night of the Raleigh WSP show, I took down my rig, ran through the Walnut Creek parking lot, waited in the traffic, parked half a block down on Blount Street, clamped my rig at the Pour House, and hit record on the deck when Jerry Joseph walked on the stage.

We actually had a club here promote an after-party for an arena show to the detriment of the band that was playing concurrently at their own venue. They have hosted several after parties and even claimed official after party on a couple of them. Other venues also claimed the same and spread rumors that their club would have members of "insert asshat douche-core band name here".

So after parties can be really cool opportunities to see special guest stars, or it can be a cash grab for a venue that banks on the people's assumption that a major star will stop by. Or both. Yarn played the Pour House one night after Punch Brothers were at Lincoln Theatre about two blocks away. Blake said they invited the boys to jam. They never showed. Pretty sure Chris Thile didn't want to get schooled.

I will not be at the Phish show however I will be at the Yarn show. This show could be huge. We need to start promoting this show. I want to hit up all the Phish message boards. Yarn has the ability to hook all the Phish phans with just one note. LOL Not all but the ones that show up to Sullivan hall. I hope we not only get a good turn out but we get more Phans and fewer talkers. We need to start some rumors. LOL A lot of times people show up off the street looking for a place to drink and chat and could care less about the band on stage. There is nothing like a Yarn show at Sullivan Hall. If we get the right crowd with the right energy this could make for a very special night.

last year i bought a ticket from a friends friend. got it in the mail (an actual phish lotto ticket with the fancy artwork and everything) and sent out a check in return. finally the day came and i went to get into MSG and was told that the ticket was invalid. what the fuck. i went to the customer service and was told that the ticket i had was canceled. apparently the bitch sold me the ticket, then called and said she never received the ticket so they sent her a new one making the one she sold me bullshit. i was livid at this point but was getting my ass into MSG. i went outside found a respectable looking gent selling a ticket for less than what i paid the bitch for the fake ticket, and made him walk to the guy checking the tickets and as soon as i got let in i gave him the money.

    you can try doing that.

Thanks for the story/tip Ponz. I may try that. At the very least I still get a Yarn show. I went with my mom and uncle to see Hot Tuna at the Beacon a few years ago. We had an extra ticket we planned on selling outside the venue. However we were told by the brothers to get lost because they run this block. My uncle ended up giving it to the box office and telling them they can have it or hand it out to anyone that wants it. I once bought 2 tickets to see moe. on NYE at Radio City via ebay the day of the show. The tickets were located in the 10th row and less then face value. You can't beat that especially a NYE show in NYC the day of the show. The person selling the tickets got snowed in. So I took them off her hands. She emailed me the tix and gave me a phone # just incase they give me any problems. I walked right in without any problems.

The show sucked. Worst show I have ever seen. Well that's what tous would have said. However I beg to differ. They killed it on every level. The 25-50 people that were there all got there faces melted off and danced there butts off. Some people came in Col and the carolinas. I did not recognize any of them. I did see a couple of people who were at the CMJ show (there 1st Yarn show) and came back for more more more. Yarn hooked them. It's so sad that Yarn played to a half empty room. I watched people's faces as Mandolin Jesus shredded up and down his Mandolin. The rest of the band was not to shabby either. They all had so much fun on stage last night. Then again they always have fun. I chatted with the band before and after the show. Blake said that was the most covers they have played at a concert ever. There were no trains back to the beach so I had to take a train to another station and then drive home. My head hit the pillow 5:45 AM. Don't ask me how I am up at 1 PM but I am. FYI I am pretty sure the show was taped.so stay tuned.

I know Blake is the lead singer but man Trev can sing. BTW Trev had on this Dead shirt he bought in 91. After checking my closet I realized I have the same shirt. Mines long sleeve. I also bought it in 91.I also have to give mad props to Jay Wall. Here's a guy who does not go on the road with the band and just jumped on stage and played like he's been playing with the band every night.

Had to chime in on this one. There were 150 people in attendance for the show last night. Earlbny's eyes must have been a little blurred from his face melting off. Fun times indeed, love playing those Dead tunes.

Here is a link to my very 1st bootleg/upload ever. Some of the tracks got out of order but if you follow my setlist you should be OK. I took Andrews advice and set my tascam to low.I think it came out pretty good. I can certainly hear the band on stage. usual crowd noise but not to bad. I was in a corner away from everyone else. Feel free to DL my show and let me know what you think. I tried to fix the track order but I did not know how.

earlbny, you need to name your files per etree specs. Something like this: yarn2011-12-28.blahblah.t01

The player arranges songs in alphabetical order by file name. You can add source info or your name or what have you where the blahblah is above. To re-derive, click 'edit item' > 'change the information' > 'Item manager' > 'derive'

Good luck. Can't wait to hear it. Oh yeah, fuck that reviewer. Pile of dog squeeze, there.

hey Blake.........I am not a crack head. I just am cracked out on YARN, AND i WAS JUST TRYIN TO GET A HUG.

I think it was this drunk chick who kept trying to get up to the green room after the show. She won some kind of dance contest Blake started up front for a Firefly shirt earlier in the evening.

    earlbny,

uploading to the internet archive takes a little practice and patience. I know many tapers who only upload to etree, but don't want to deal with IA. For naming files, check out this link part b http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=NamingStandards
The archive will then organize by track number when you use the format of 2011-12-28s1t01 for example. The archive software organizes by alphabetical order or numerical order.
If it's any consulation, my first upload received a one star May 14, 2010 because I was just learning how to edit and didn't transfer the file correctly with a usb cable. I wish I would have known about 5guitars and the assitance I could have received. It would have saved me hours of trouble. You are getting some great advice!

I was really bothered when I saw the comments yesterday. MOO usually says something enthusiastically and then something kind of outtathere. Hopefully, this will be the last time.

    Just keep at it earlbny!

Funny, the reviews that Andrew's shows get from MOL were always 5 stars and I figured it's someone here till I saw the Sullivan Hall post.
