Week night too but I haven't seen them since Putnam den. Been out of the loop for a while here. Gonna be a hung over Friday, but hell, I have experience. Hope you can make it Reckless
....plannin' on it bro. Ain't missed the last half dozen Red Square shows so why start now? Tomorrow is my kiler schedule with 6 straight classes BUT, it's an in-service day so I'm sure I can sit/snore through that!
When did this one get announced? I check Yarndates all the time and at first I thought you were a month off!
Well the story on this one was one sick Blake....and not the good kind. Poor dude was hurtin' but gave it his all and we got a very well played set. He had to cut it short but what was played was blistered.
Set my mics REAL close again and snagged an incredible recording. The two new songs were just splendid.....esp Maybe You're Mine. I can just hear earlbny's review now......no they cannot write a bad song and this one just might give the Dirt Road a run~
The Dirt Road Down On Your Luck It's All Over Now End Of Summer Turn the Light Off Bad Bad Man Salt Creek>Woman On The Interstate Along The Way Music's Only Outlaw>For What It's Worth>Music Almost Home NYC Found Maybe You're Mine ....first Blake then the rest of the band came out among the 30 or so folks there to play an off stage acoustic crowd singing Shine The Light On
And at that they were through at just over an hour and a half. Great great stuff and i can't wait to hear it all again. As always thanks to Yarn for all that they do.
Have to think this band is in it's prime right now. As you said, Blake is churning out new (or at least new to us) material at a Ryan Adams-like pace, but with a much better self-filter.
As always, good to see you Reckless. Yes it was a good show, as usual, with Yarn. Blake was so sick he actually passed up some shots but he still did a great job despite a rageing cold. Can't wait to hear the recording of the new songs. Amazing amount of material coming out of that boy. How many now Reckless? I know you've been keeping count of the tunes.
You too mister...I guess it's appraoching 90 songs! Speaking of numbers, this was my 40th Yarn show in under three years!
It may well be my best recording to date.....holy shit. Perfect balance, crowd presence barely detectable, excellent stereo separation and everything super crisp. I guess they had stage monitor problems a bit but the last few shows here have had superb sound. I'll send it out to tous asap.
.....and I also forgot to mention the big news that Blake announced. Shane welcomed his son into the world this week. Simpson Spaulding has joined the Yarmy the so congrats to the Spauldings!
Yes, Congratulations to the Spaulding's... but I think it's Sampson (or at least I think that's what Blake told me) Thanks for recording Reckless... as always
Disc 1 01) The Dirt Road 02) Down On Your Luck 03) It's All Over Now 04) End Of Summer 05) Turn the Light Off 06) Bad Bad Man 07) Salt Creek > Woman On The Interstate
Disc 2 01) Along The Way 02) Music's Only Outlaw > For What It's Worth > Outlaw 03) Almost Home 04) NYC Found 05) Maybe You're Mine 06) Shine The Light On
Thanks tous! Been playing this one over and over all week. Blake's voice isn't at his best 'cause of his cold and there's some serious feedback on his guitar during Almost Home. It got cut short 'cause he was sick and still, it will always be one of my favorites~
Listened to the whole show twice today. Holy shit, Maybe you're mine is such a beauty. Listened to that one three or four times. Simple beautiful lyrics. Awesome melody. Brought a tear to my eye. I was hoping that it makes it on to the new album. Now that other one with the killer drum beat that makes me exceed the speed limit. Help an old fella out here reckless. Is it turn the light off and turn your light on?
Some of the songs sounded different in a good way. I hear little things that I never heard before. Salt Creek > Woman On The Interstate had this disco Yarn vibe in the Salt Creek jam.
