It's a beautiful day in NC after some pretty serious deadly storms yesterday. I'm gonna go enjoy the day and not worry about tracking shows. So I'm streaming the second set on a loop:
I didn't really follow the news much yesterday. Apparently 22 people are dead in NC from all the tornadoes that hit Saturday. A tornado hit within a block of the Cuegrass Festival site. Yarn was pulled from the stage after two songs because of the impending weather.
Some areas east and south of Raleigh saw even more devastation. 11 are dead in Bertie county alone. My thoughts are with those who are without homes and loved ones right now.
Intro Dear Mama I'm So Sorry 5 Guitars Can't Slow Down Listen Up Sweetheart Tennessee Down On Your Luck Shine a Light New Song ("Do it again" chorus) Bad, Bad Man Woman on the Interstate
Set the second:
Banter Almost Home Tired of Everything (for badlab)* Liquor Love (for Brouche's wife) Singing Jim Croce (for taperjeff)* Southern Rock Song (for Brouche) Girl From The North Country (for taperjeff)* Strikes and Gutters (for hoppedup) Madeline (for badlab)* Empty Pockets (for taperjeff)* Oh My Sweet Carolina Helpless (in response to Brouche's request for "Cinnamon Girl") On the Road (for Brouche)
* denotes request from internet audience listening via ustream.tv
This one will probably be tracked a little differently than this list because there was more banter and audience interaction than a normal show. I'm pretty sure I've got all the songs listed, though.
I think the Mrs. and I are going to head down to the Beaufort show on the 26th. She is really starting to like the music. Looking forward to hearing what you taped this weekend.
Brouche, Yarn Live at Barry's House and Yarn Live at House Concert didn't seem to have much zing so I named the house concert series. Let me know if you want to change it. A geographical name seemed about right.

RC, I will send this one to you. And I will be prompt. Any other of the shows I've taped recently you don't have?
I'm amazed at the balance on this recording, as the guys themselves are the sound guys here. Vocals are clear, as are all the instruments. The mix is great. There is a 5guitars.org shout out just before 5 Guitars. Just before I got the stream working. I'll be happy to stream shows in the future if there is wi-fi available. I didn't monitor the feed from a separate machine, so I had no clue about levels.
And thank you RC, some damn fine pulls you been gettin' lately.
No offense and nothing personal hopped, but this entire thread pisses me the fuck off. Where do you come off getting a private show and then a near-perfect recording of it? This angers me to no end for three reasons:
1) I wasn't there 2) I wasn't there 3) I wasn't there
Track 09 Shine A Light is the new Yarn song, not the Stones. I realize now it's called Shine The Light. I'll make sure it's right on the next one. I ain't touching this one again.
I've been listening to this one quite a bit as well. Can't wait for the guys to do this again. I just noticed he says, "Your face or mine?" in the chorus of Liquor Love. Has that always been there or was it a special treat?
RC and tous, you guys gotta make the trip one of these days. Make a southern Yarn run. Get a little south in ya mouth, y'all.
Oh yeah, tous, whaddya mean "near-perfect"? I guess I'll have to try harder next time.
If we get some summer dates down your way we just might trek down. I simply cannot get time away from work during the school year. I still ain't heard this one :(
RC, I had to work late every day last week to take Thursday, Friday and Monday off to archive a festival. That said, I'll burn a copy when I get home tonight and drop it in the mail in the a.m. If I'm lyin', I'm dyin'.
How late does your school year go? That June 23-26 run through Harrisonburg VA, Morganton, Charlotte, and Aberdeen, NC looks pretty good. And I believe badlab is gonna host an acoustic show in Hickory on that run.
All ready thinking about the next one.... I think waiting until fall or winter or just seeing where their schedule might have space.
I was on the road for work last week and was only able to stream this through computer speakers. I thought it was a nice documentation of a fun night. When I was finaly able to download it and listen on my house speakers and in my car and I am completely amazed at the depth of sound you get. No PA, no amps..just the guys and their instruments and everyone is at the volume you need them. Another note...Bobby did an amazing job with nothing more than an assortment of sticks and his snare.
Oh don't knock yourself out hopped, I do want to hear it but I'm just pleased that you get them posted here for all the normal folks!
Yes, that run does indeed look interesting and I will be off then so let's see. It would be fun to hook up with y'all and I haven't done anything like a tour since 8 straight with Ryan Adams in the summer of '06~
RC, can you stream the shows at school? Or better yet download them at school or a wifi hot spot? Or is there no broadband service in your area at all?
I'll still send you a copy. I'll throw in the Rives Theater show as well.
Brouche, I'll get you a thumb drive with the 24 bit files on it and you can copy those.
I was gonna post that I had mailed them, but I wanted you to be surprised by the uncharacteristic relative promptness I operated with on this one. Enjoy. It's my favorite Yarn show yet.
Buring serious midnight oil on work, listening to this show followed by the 4/30/11 French Broad Festival show- talk about a shift! From a stellar acoustic set to a seriously kickass electric set and from a quiet living room crowd to raucous festy crowd - it's quite apparent that they're at home in either setting! And the second show couldn't come at a better time than now - it's helping to keep away the zzzzz's :) Thanks again, fellas!
