I'm originally from Raleigh and used to having lots of live Yarn in my life but I moved to Switzerland (for 3 years) in December and am going thru a major live Yarn jones ... Thank god for the tapers and Archive ;)

What are your favorite Yarn shows? Let's say top 5 ...
  1.
I used to hail 9/11/09 as the greatest of all but after 31 shows attended and dozens more on disc, I no longer have a true favorite. I'll have to give this one some thought.

As I have never been to a bad Yarn show, and as they seem to keep getting better every time, my favorite Yarn show would be the last one I've seen.
  2.
You'll really feel that way after you hear how killer the Albany recording came out Buck. I've never heard the sound so crisp in that place and with my mics so close, it just booms!

I'm gonna have to hold off answering this one, as I have 4 Yarn shows to go to in the next five days. One of those being completely unplugged acoustic. It's gonna be tough, but I'll soldier through. Oh yeah, and Drivin n Cryin on the day I don't have a Yarn show to go to.

    Yeah, I know. I suck.

    4/13 - Yarn @ Old Winston Social Club - W-S, NC
    4/14 - Drivin n Cryin @ Blind Tiger - Greensboro, NC
    4/15 - Yarn @ Rives Theater - Martinsville, VA
4/16 - Yarn and Big Daddy Love @ Cuegrass Festival - Raleigh, NC
4/16 - Yarn Unplugged! House Concert - Greensboro, NC

I've been lucky enough to have every Yarn show I've been to recorded (thanks, Hoppedup!). It's not the best show I've been to of theirs but it's one I will always be partial to, because it was my first,4/22/10 Blind Tiger Greensboro, NC. Some of best ones I've seen have been at Catawba Valley Brewing in Morganton. Sound is always great, good beer, and good crowd of people.

Pretty excited about the acoustic show in my living room this weekend too!

I agree with you Brouche... Catawba Valley Brewing Shows are amazing like you said. I am also very thankful to hopped up for taking me and my buddy Doodee, who often tapes them, for bringing me to see them in the first place. I bet you are excited about them playing in your living room.. I am going to have them play my house the day they play the Morganton show in June. Just couldn't pass up that opportunity.

    Top 5?

Mrs. Tous and I have only seen them, what?, about 25 times or so. Not many bad performances. Well, none actually. Only bad crowds.

    The best?

    1) Yarn on a motherfucken boat - NYC
    2) Sullivan Hall 2/27/10
    3) Main Pub 9/11/09
    4) Fountain House, Newton, NJ 3/20/10
    5) RC birthday show

Fountain House.... I have the March and October shows from last year on my ipod right now. I downloaded them because I grew up within 5 minutes of the place... the shows are great, good choice.

Probably the drunkest I've been at a Yarn show. Good thing RC videotaped it!

I like Hearing Blake repeat ""Sussex County" at the end of Tennessee during one of those shows... makes me think of home.

    "Good thing RC videotaped it!"

You know, have to get around to synching that with HQ audio. Perhaps when I go into the lab to master the 5/14 show I'll be able to do both.

@ RC That was I think the fourth time I have seen them there and the only time there were no sound issues at all. Hope to hear it soon.

My favorite is 2011-04-16 from Brouche's Living Room. This acoustic set was unique and among the best shows I've ever seen, Yarn or otherwise.

I'll have it uploaded in a day or so and you can agree or throw tomatoes at me. We stayed up until about 3 a.m. drinking and listening to it and at one point Blake said, "Don't post this on archive, we could sell this." May have been the Buffalo Trace or Maker's Mark or beer talking, but I think he was impressed with the playing and the quality of the recording.

So top 5 as of now:

    1. 2011-04-16 Greensboro NC Brouche House Concert
    2. 2010-05-01 Catawba Valley Brewing Company Morganton NC
    3. 2011-04-15 Rives Theater Martinsville VA
    4. 2010-10-22 RC's Birthday Show Great Barrington MA
    5. 2011-02-18 The Pour House Raleigh NC

Hey Reckless... so I was reading this thread and decided to download the 9/11/09 and and the April Albany show. Wow. Jamming them out on my deck with some bourbon, these are great... Thanks. The NYC Found from Albany is sick.
  4.
Just realized that I never got around to adding a list. Those two rate right up there badlab, glad you're diggin' 'em.

Still no list....not sure I really have one anymore ;)

I think it would be hard and that is such a damn good thing. I have been to six shows and it would be hard to say which one wouldn't make the list. I think this is a great problem that we all have and I am thrilled to be a Yarn Addict.
