Thanks Rockinman for taping this... I always show up to Yarn hoping that someone is there taping so I can relive the magic. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Godfrey’s is a little coffeehouse that’s had a history of bringing great music to the area (Townes once stood on that very stage) The crowd is always there to really listen, although there was a little chattiness at this show. Blake passed out the chorus of the new song he said he wrote the day before. When they played the Stones, the crowd started singing, and were eager to join in for the new one. Wanted to share the lyric so you all are ready when they do it again:
Shine the light on Shine the light on Won’t the good Lord Shine his light down on thee
It was really a beautiful moment... I hope the band had as much fun with this show as the crowd did. Blake was nice enough to give a shout out to my husband & me. My daughter noticed that Ricky checked his cell phone right before Don’t Break my Heart Again, does he time them? She thought so--after the show he said he thought it was the longest one ever-- don’t know if that’s the case, but it certainly rocked, with Bobby playing the back wall of the stage. Good Stuff.
May the good Lord shine his light down on the Yarn boys and the 5 Guitars people who love them...
Enjoy tomorrow... wish I could be there and meet you all. By the way Reckless, I think you sounded damn good at Stella Blue- oh so much better than I could have done... Hopefully Blake will give you a chance to sing the new one tomorrow. Tell him the Johnson Family sends their best.... Enjoy and be safe in your travels....
Hopefully, Blake will have the good sense to keep me in my seat!
Will you be at the Opera House in Barto on 5/16 for Yarn? Don't know how far that is for you but I'm planning on being there to shoot a DVD from the balcony. Working on details but it's shaping up.
I'll be at the Opera House in JIM THORPE on 5/14 (I think I have the date right) Is that you with the two front row seats center stage? I wondered who beat me to them...My crew will be sitting next to you if it is! My daughter signed up to sell t-shirts as well. This is another great venue, holds about 400 people, nice sound, but Yarn has no radio support here (we lost our one good station) Talked to the promotor when I called for seats and he says it takes a few shows for a band to catch on. Nice thing is that they are releasing water on the Lehigh river that weekend, so hopefully there will be a lot more people in town to check them out... I was thinking I should drive out and flyer the cars at the rafting places and on the hiking trails... There is great hiking in that area as well. If that's gonna be you, my husband will have to share his applejack with you! Looking forward to it...
Oh, forgot to mention, I was with the guy who inspired the "pink shoes jam" at Godfreys, he's a friend of mine... have pictures of Blake wearing them from my daughter. And for the record, they were red, the light just made them look pink... not that it makes it any better. :)
Oh yeah, Jim Thorpe and yup, that's me so we will in fact get to meet. Looking forward to it.
BTW, I've asked Dan for the front of the balcony, not the floor so if you're talkin' floor, that's not me. Anything you can do to promote the show will be swell.
Hey all... just noticed that two songs from this show are on youtube. here's a link:
One will lead you to the next... "Strikes and Gutters" and "Nothing but Time." Also, someone captured "Shine the light on" but I only saw that on Facebook. Worth biting the bullet and signing up for Facebook if you don't already have an account. I don't know how to get it off facebook and on here... totally computer illiterate. The only reason I have the stupid Facebook is to keep track of a nephew in Afghanistan, but it's a great way to find out about Yarn shows as well. Enjoy.
