The Yarn Xmas Tour 2010 wound down to a close last night in, perhaps, fitting style. After the clusterfuck with directions to Millers Falls the night before, this was even worse. Their site and tweets said Freeport, ME, which is about 20 minutes north of Portland.

Left a bar (watching my Bruins) about 8:30 to get there in what I figured would be 1/2 hour. With maps/directions in tow, we made the drive to Freeport and the address Google gave us. Drove down the street and it was dark, no Van-a in site, no sign for Venue Music Bar. Asked a kid and he said, oh yeah, that place closed months ago.

    Um...wut?

Yeah, he says, they moved the place to Portland.

Um...you mean the city we were just fucking in?

So...back we go...it's now pushing 10 and we're still driving around town asking people if they've ever heard of the place.

Nope...no...sorry, no...what was the name again?

Finally a girl points us in the right direction...we get there about 10:30 who knows how many songs into the set.

Place was pretty big, nice stage, good sound...small...um..."crowd". Not sure what promotion they did but the Rte 63 Roadhouse packed 'em in compared to this.

No Andrew, but everyone else made the haul and, again to their credit, made the most of it. Mostly slower tunes, all enjoyable.

Tangled...that long message we left on your cell was them doing Bars Don't Look Too Friendly.

Thanks to the band for three fun nights.

Two more notes...the was a taper there last night so stay tuned (he taped them at Strangecreek) and the wreath now has a new home!

    Peace out.

Ugh, you should've called me for directions to the Roadhouse, I posted my number....guess it's a good thing the Mrs. got the wreath. :-)
