Welcome, Guest

  1.
Among my many blesssings, I can't forget to count y'all as a big part. What a fantastic year 2010 has been with all the killer shows and getting to know so many friends and family within the Yarn circle. My birthday party was beyond amazing and after Black Eyed Sallys and this recent Manchester show, there is no longer any best yarn show I've seen but several that stand out. The boat cruise on 9/10 was as much fun as I've ever had at a music event. Getting to meet antsmarching all the way from Australia was another highlight and I hope those folks make it back down for another go at Yarn.

I've been busting chops to get all sorts of stuff copied and it's finally ready to go out today. Lots of stuff going out to hopped and I'll toss last Friday's Manchester show in the mail to jgoods and tous. If hopped doesn't thionk it can go up, we'll just mail it around to everyone else.

I'm also lucky that I'm the only one among us who's gotten to hear Desperate Amy about a dozen times so far! Here's the lyrics to tide y'all over until it shows up in the mail. Per usual in a Yarn song, nothing good happens to poor Amy!

You keep dusting off his heart
He went out tearing, yours apart
You been planning your lives together
While he’s been out looking for, something better
Oh you keep playing a fool
without a clue without even a shred of truth
    You keep dreaming a lie
I believe it’s time that somebody told you
Hold on desperate Amy, I don’t think that you are the one
Hold on desperate Amy, I don’t think that you are the one meant to save him

Happy Thanksgiving to the band and everyone here~

Happy Thanksgiving to you, RC. To celebrate, I think I'll go see Yarn tonight. I'm off Thursday and Friday, so I should be able to post another Yarn show this weekend.

I am thankful for good friends, good times and good music. I am most thankful, though, for a family that is beyond understanding of my obsessions.

    Gobble, gobble.

We'll I'm a little late to the party, you can put that one down to being an Aussie living in Canada ;)

    Happy Thanksgiving all!

We too have had a fantastic year and one of the stand out moments for me has been my first Yarn show, what a blast that was! And it couldnt have happened with the great generosity of John and Tangled, so I am very grateful for that!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    Bump for 2011

So much has happened in a year and yet, it's all the same sentiments. Thanks to everyone here and of course the band. Hope everyone has a wonderful day~

Happy Thanksgiving to all as well. I have enjoyed getting to know you all this year, even if we haven't met face to face yet. I am lucky to have met up with hopped and brouche, two great guys who love music and beer even more than me. Enjoy your day, enjoy your families, even if it takes a few drinks to make that happen. Cheers.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you Yarn heads out there.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Nice to have this board to hear all the Yarn news and keep in touch with the New England and NC fans. It's been about a year since seeing Sue, Dale, and Brouche at the Southern. It will be interesting to see where this band goes in the next year. I heard a January tour with Dangermuffin. Maybe they'll hit the west coast and northwest? Where ever the van will take them I guess. I think yarn should go to Texas, especially Austin.

Taping Yarn is definitely the best recording experiences I ever had. After years of taper section taping, it is so nice to have the band take an interest in what I'm actually doing.

I may have two-three shows left in the year. Got a B and B in Thomas, WV for New Years. I may catch Clementine's if the relatives are not in town. Shepardstown, WV is also a strong possibility on a Saturday night in December.

Look forward to hearing and/or seeing you all in the future!

    Jeff

Well we couldn't be more pleased to have you around Jeff.

Ha, taper section taping. The same mics I snagged that killer show in Albany from 4ft away last week once recorded the Grateful Dead from the other side of Giant's Stadium!

Happy Track Friday! (I'm tracking some recent recordings today) I am thankful for Yarn and all the friends I have made through the discovery of this band, virtual and face to face. I have taped Yarn now more than any other band and it is always a great show, even if it's not always a great tape. I am in a three month Yarn drought, but I am also thankful to have lots of great local music to occupy me until December 17th in Charlotte.

I have met RC, tous, tangled, headzilla, badlab. suemck2, empty_pockets and Desperate Amy through this band/site. I turned Brouche on to Yarn and I think it's safe to say he is a dedicated fan. Can't think of any other group I'd rather hang out with. I wish all of you health and musical wealth for the holidays and the coming year.

I'll be seeing badlab and Brouche tonight for a Possum Jenkins show. You know, the guys that opened for Yarn on NYE last year. It's all connected. It's all good.

Happy belated Thanksgiving, everyone! Add me to the list of fans thankful for Yarn and grateful to all the tapers for always feeding our need! And to RC for creating this forum for us!

Hopped, I'm heading down to Charlotte for December show, so I'll see you there! Badlab, Brouche, you guys onboard too? This show marks my first road trip, so I can finally post some mileage stats! It's desperate times here in Raleigh...

Sue, I was at the T-giving Eve show last year... Was that you dancing your ass off and having an awesome time?! ;)

Hey Amy - yeah that would be me ;) Used to live 2 miles from The Pour House. Miss Raleigh a lot... Thinking about prolonging my Stateside visit to take in the Charlotte show =) IT would take some doing but hey - this is YARN we're talkin' bout. So maybe I'll see y'all there
  6.
That would be great if the Charlotte show works out for you, Sue! Keep us posted!

Stony, are you hitting the Stroudsburg show tonight? We're visiting family in NJ so I'm only 90 minutes away, but I can't get anyone to go with me and my husband (who will be at his HS reunion tonight) won't let me make the trek on my own. Maybe the van's coming by way of the NJ turnpike and I could hitch a ride... ;-)

    Hey RC,

I was at 93 Giants with the Dead. Who could forget, or should I say, wants to remember the Music Never Stops>Easy Answers>Music Never Stops. I was running a pair of nakamachi 300s with the cp4 shotguns and an Audio Technica 822 stereo mic into a radio shack mixer with a Dennon DTR80P portable DAT. In the fall when Healy began cranking the sound to ear splitting levels, I dumped the 4 channel mixer and went with just the Naks. My taping partner at the time dropped out of society in fall of 1993 and sold the rig later (it was his rig). In the spring of 1994, I bought AKG 460s I use now with the super long shotguns for taping places like the Oakland Coliseum. Sold the guns in 1997 to a Phish taper, moved into computer recording in 2008 with the purchase of an Edirol R09, and upgraded to a Sound Devices Mixpre a year ago. That's my story...

Ouch, yes, the Music>Cheesy Answers>Music was horrible, however, since I had just slipped an engagement ring on my lady's finger during the Peggy-O, even that couldn't ruin my buzz!!!

The gear I run is actually my buddy Jack's.....there's a good chance that we've all met. Hit all the Boston Garden runs in 91, 93 and 94.......Albany, Hartford, RFK.....all those places. He has an AT822 as well but I mostly use the AT4071 guns 'cause with a beyer pre-amp, they sound almost as dynamic as the 822 but they put the crowd waaay in the background.

....which reminds me that tous got the wrong mics listed for Albany....gotta drop him a note.
