YES the Roadhouse has been back open, the new management took over 10-25-10......but Yarn is also coming to Belchertown in November. PSYCH!!!!! I haven't been able to find anyone to take a road trip.
has anyone heard of, http://www.facebook.com/www.livemusicnewsandreview.com.....they featured Jatoba, playing at the Roadhouse tonight....I e-mailed and asked if they had heard of Yarn, they have, and asked me to write a review of the show....writing expressively is not one of my strong suits......anyone else wanna do it? Let me know...
Hey, we were wondering about food out that way. Does the Roadhouse have a restaurant or is there stuff close by or should we plan on hitting something along the way? I'm hearin' that this place is really in the sticks.
We're hitting Taylors Tavern right on 2A off of 91 in Greenfield. Meeting a bud before he and his wife take in their first Yarn show. He doesn't know yet that tomorrow he'll have a new favorite band!
Food, the Roadhouse doesn't have any. There is an Italian Restaurant in Erving, right on Route 2, about a mile from the Roadhouse, it's called Christina's. It's ok, nothing fancy. As for the sticks, well, it's not Northampton. It's right near the railroad tracks. Taylor's is ok. Your best food choices would be in Northampton.
Annie opener and a Stella closer with all the holiday fixin's in between~
It was really nice to read the X-mas Ball reviews as we waited our turn so thanks everyone for that. Had a fine meet n greet n eat with tous & friends in Greedfield. We then found ourselves with three drivers, a collection of waitstaff who couldn't agree on which complicated route to take since the bridge is out and a set of fucking mapquest directions that patently did not describe the roads we were about to travel upon. So with our directions to the venue and Jack's GPS failing us on two seperate lost jaunts about Yarnfollower's neck of the woods, I happened to be the one leading us about when we came upon a gas station. There I asked the fellow next to me about the venue. He and his wife did their best but as yet another set of confusing directions scrambled up my head, they took mercy upon us and actually lead us to it....getting lost once themselves! Once there, we invited them in with us and they stayed the entire show! Loved the band and i got their addy to mail them the show for a big THANK YOU....we'd still be wandering around those fucking roads....and they prolly would have just stayed home so it was a true win win~
Running really late, I made it into the Roadhouse as the band was just readying to play. Checked in with sound and got permission to set up mics while Blake said he'd give me a minute before they started. Found a terrific spot dead center and got rollin'....
I won't remember all of the songs till I master it but the DAT ran out to 2:59 so it was another marathon. Expertly played with terrific house sound. I sampled what sounds like a superb recording.
Annie Southern Rock Song Christmas Song Santa Clause Is Comin' To Town Ray Charles Christmas Desperate Amy Irish Jam/Interstate Singing Jim Croce (with Mandy joining Blake) Let Me In One More Saturday Night >>>>all sorts of great shit~ Cat and Mouse Stella Blue
Just another great great show by the full band. No drum solo though~
So with Yarnfollower's straightforward directions, we were back on 91 South in due time to make it home around 3:30ish.
Whew....thanks Yarn, especially for being so kind to the tapers. I'll try to get this out to someone to upload as soon as i can.
Ok, so I wanted to be sure all was well before posting this news but I have now mastered one of the very best recordings I've put up yet. This show was well played with superb sound. The final result is well balanced with every band member present nice and loud. Some minor crowd noise during the early quieter songs but nothing bothersome.
I don't know how the hell I forgot about the opening two songs before but here's the official and accurate setlist:
This Whole Zoo 25 Years Annie 5 Guitars Christopher Street More Southern Rock Song Christmas Song Rod's Silent Night Guitar Jam Tired Of Everything Down On Your Luck Mama I'm So Sorry Roadhouse Bad Bad Man Irish jam>Woman On The Interstate Santa Clause Is Comin' To Town Desperate Amy The Spirit Of Christmas (Ray Charles) One More Saturday Night (Trevor on vocals) Let Me In Don't Worry About Me Singing Jim Croce Cat and Mouse
Stella Blue
It'll go postal to tous by tomorrow and I'll try to hit up a few other regulars.....who can put this up at archive.org in proper format? Lemme know if you can as everyone's really gonna want this one.
