Welcome, Guest

  1.
How does that old saying go? If I knew I'd live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself?! Actually, I ain't doin' bad but it's a fact that this October will mark my 50th year on this globe. Because my beautiful (and much younger) wife loves me SO much, she has planned a birthday bash for me and of course I'm thrilled that she's hired Yarn to play!

The event will be on Friday night, Oct 22nd at 7pm at a place called The Crissey Farm in Great Barrington, MA and I'd like to extend a personal invitation to all of the 5guitars, friends and aquaintences.

    Here's a link to the Farm: http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ADBF_enUS314US314&q=Crissy+Farm+Great+Barrington

... tangled is looking into the hotels & working on corporate rates, as there are several nice places within easy walking distance. There will be some light nosh and a b'day cake at the Farm. The Barrington Brewery is attached to the Farm and serves a full menu and of course, brews their own beer.

So mark your calendars and be our guests for the evening. If you have any questions or if you can, please RSVP: johnchristinat@yahoo.com

Really hope to see as many of you there as possible~

    YARN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to what should be an awesome time.

One question..um, if you're the guest of honor, who the F^&K is going to tape this?!?

man, you don't look a day over 30, you must be taking good care of yourself. Having a much younger wife helps I hear :)

Congrats man, looks like a killer party
  2.
Reckless great to hear this is still happening. Was hoping with all hope that we could make it back over for this, but its not looking likely at this stage.

I will run the numbers and see how we go, but its so damn expensive to fly across north america :)

It will definitely be a blast! WIll keep you posted!

I am in discussions with a fellow Yarniac and beer travel buddy to see if I can make this. I just have to see how long it takes to drive to Great Barrington , MA if you stop at every brewpub on the way. Google says 12 hours without brewpub stops. If I make it, I will tape and would be happy to run Reckless' rig as well so he can have a good time!
  3.
Well it is a bit of a haul for some of you so it's undertandable if you can't swing it but we would LOVE to have any travelers make the trip. Its usually still great foliage time here in Southern New England that time of year so that may be a plus. Taping by hoppedup sounds great!

bgreen! Nice to see ya back around. It's only a few hous for you and you're of course welcome to bring your famliy.

Thanks buddy, yeah, I've been scarce, always here, but spread thinner than butter these days, ya know how it goes :)

We will certainly see whats happening, would be fun and oct is after the festi season for us so things slow a bit. Yarn seems to have boycotted my area lately so we may have to travel for a fix, sounds likes a great opp to see the band and ring in a milestone BD with ya.
  4.
    Damn Reckless--you don't look a day over 39--
  5.
Well thank you dear.....may I assume you'll be there?!
  6.
I surely hope so--trying to work out the details. Sounds like a blast.

Hmmm. Looks like I may be able to make this work. Any news on the hotel rates? Those in walking distance are kinda steep for this country boy.

tangled is looking into hotels today, more later . . .
  7.
Um, tangled is also apparently signed into my admin account.

    ;)

Bad girl! There will be punishment later~
  8.
um, five days later . . . sorry i'm just able to sit down again ;)

i looked around great barrington and found the most inexpensive motel and closest (3ish blocks) to the party is the Lantern House Motel (www.thelanternhousemotel.com).
I stopped in and spoke with the owner, Hasu Patel. Very nice guy, very proud of his place, he gave me a quick tour, it's not the Ritz, but the rooms are clean, new beds throughout, etc. the rooms range from 99-125. i asked him to please give anyone who called the $99.00 rate. This is still peek leaf season 'round here, so the rooms everywhere are going to be peek prices. he said he'd do his best to accommodate everyone at the lowest rate. when/if you call him, just mention that you are part of the christinat party. the number is 413-528-2350.

the holiday inn express is literally across the street from the party, rates are about $225-250. the comfort inn is very new and probably the biggest hotel in town, it has an indoor pool, etc. it is also $225-250. these three hotels are the closest to the party, there are many other hotels and b&b's, i would be happy to explore further or go check out places for anyone.

can't wait to meet ya'll, until then i'm,

Wait...I thought hotels were included as part of the open invite? You mean, we have to pay our own way?!? What kind of party is this?

    :-)
  9.
it's not that kind of party! unless i get an unexpected economic stimulus (fingers crossed & bets placed)
bring a tent and someone to snuggle and i'll let you camp in my backyard. i'll only charge $20 and a bottle of whiskey ;)

From what I can tell, the off-season camping at Beartown State Forest is free. No facilities, though. My traveling companion didn't seem to like the idea of camping in Western Mass in late October. So we will most likely be at the Lantern House. I've got the time off, too. Looks like I'm a pretty solid 'yes' on this one.

awesome hoppedup. let me know if i can do anything for you at this end. it is chancy to camp at that time, unless you have the appropriate gear but if you are serious, you should camp at our house. otherwise the lantern house should treat you nice.

bgreen, I can run an extension cord out for you, free of charge . . . and a bottle of whiskey ;)

    well then :)

I would even make it a top shelf bottle for you and reckless even without the extension cord :)

"I've got the time off, too. Looks like I'm a pretty solid 'yes' on this one."

I'm so pleased to hear this hopped. No, camping may not be appealing per se but you'd be at a house and only in a tent to crash. Also, our property is a secluded 3 acres with one neighbor visible through the trees only when the leqaves are down. We have a trout stream and a couple acres of lawns so it's a great site for it.

"I surely hope so--trying to work out the details. Sounds like a blast. "

We'd be so glad to see you again! Please do your best to make it~

if your serious and were welcome, the misses and I may venture up man. We can of course find accomadations for the minnie winnie without imposing, looks like there is enough close by :)
  12.
you can park your minnie winnie in our yard, right next to our scamper camper . . . seriously.

the last time i turned down a whisky, I didn’t understand the question.

the last time I drank whisky, I started returning things I never stole.

Yeah, I was out in the woods taping for four days at a festival and I came back to crickets here on 5g. I was planning on taking a taping hiatus and resting up. Then I get an email from a friend who wants me to tape his band tonight. Yay.

If the company I work for stays solvent through the next pay period, I'll be there in Great Barrington.
  15.
Very pleased that you're all still coming up.....e-mail with any needs we can help out with at this end!

We're probably stopping over in Harrisburg PA or NW Philly area for some brewery touring on Thursday. Probably do lunch on Friday at a brewpub on the way. I'd assume a Friday afternoon arrival, sometime between 3-6 p.m. I'll send you my phone number in email and we can talk Friday.

Missed the Hartford gig for a great show in Boston. Costello, Mellencamp, Elton, Leon Russell, Gregg Allman, Jeff Bridges, Neko Case, Punch Brothers....man, what a lineup. Fun, fun show.

Anyway, no way do we miss this show.

    RC,

Working hard to find a way to make it up there. Need a sitter for my kids and I might have one. Would be coming with Derek if I can swing it. what time is yarn going to play to and from do you think? I have about a 1 1/2 hr drive from Hartford, right? Again, desperately trying to sort out the logistics so that little info will help a lot...
  19.
    Oh sweet news jgoods!

Lookin' to have the band start around 8ish so maybe till 10:30-11:00ish tops. Don't know how old your little ones are but there will be a number of kids attending so if you need to tag 'em along, that's cool. Really little ones would prolly just be bored though.

    Hope you can make it~

My laptop LCD display crapped out, so I'm using an external monitor. If someone can bring a laptop and there is a wifi signal there, a live feed is certainly possible. I was planning on doing this at some point. I just need to get a new LCD backlight for my crappy lappy.

So Mr. Reckless, Happy birthday. Really wish I could make it but tomorrow I will be knee deep in a minor medical issue that will keep me layed up for a few weeks. Bummer as I can just tell it's going to be a jammin time. Party hardy old man!! Give my regards to the Yarn boys.

Have an awesome b-day celebration reckless, wish we could make it. Furnace went out last night so I literally watched the chances go up in smoke lol. Best wishes for a killer celebration man!! I've always been told that you make your 50th extremely special because your next one might involve caster oil, a walker, and diapers (sorry, had to get one old guy crack in there since I can't poke fun in person) :)

Happy b-day Reckless! Sadly, I can't make the trip as kid issues are preventing it. I was close to coming with teh little ones, but my 5 yr old has an ear infection, so the trip just isn't in her best interest. Have a great time (like I need to tell you that), and enjoy your party. Well deserved.... and your wife is pretty amazing for doing it. Can't wait to hear all about it. Also, just got the show in the mail from Sallys! Will be listening tonight and putting myself there in spirit. Cheers!
