Well I suoppose we'll see the regular Connecticats at this one. What a blast of a place this is. Very small but last time at least, the crowd was very much there for Yarm. It being a Saturday night, I'm expecting the same this time. Now ghost, RI isn't far away and it's a weekend show so we're expecting you there!
3rd show in 24 hours what with the Garwood, NJ show Friday night, the Jones Family BBQ at 4:30 and then Sully's at 10:30. Boys were dragging a bit, understandably, and took a few songs before catching fire.
Pulled "Daydream" out of their, um, hats. That one should make it's way into more shows. "It's All Over Now" is also a keeper. Props as well to another great (requested) version of "Misery".
Good to see everyone again and now on to Yarn on a motherfuckin' boat!
Just finished mastering this one so I should be able to get it postal to you tomorrow tous. Sound is really good with almost no chatter. Slightly off balance 'cause of conditions but another great sounding and well played show.
More later but the setlist for now:
....track one is Andrew warming up a little tease of China Cat Sunflower. Had to clip that in for my fellow deadheads ;)
Ain't That A Sin Down On Your Luck Woman OnThe Interstate Christopher Street Daydream Alone On The Weekend NYC Found Singing Jim Croce It's All Over Now More Take Me Out Misery 25 Years Tennesssee I Gotta Go Abeline On The Road Don't Break My Heart Again Annie
"....now I know what Kris was saying when he sang Sunday morning coming down~" Instead of the Stones cover I imagined when I read It's All Over Now on a setlist, we got another favorite new song. Just splendid all the way through~
Yup Lorax, he also teased a bit of Reuben & Cherise but I missed that on tape. I see/hear many correlations between Andrew and Jerry and it's just joyful.
Well the guys had a long day with two gigs but of course, rocked out a full 2:20 show for us. Excellent playing as always and the sound was terrific. Listening to my recording right now and it sounds fantasitc. 'Course, Mr John D was in attendance so perhaps we'll get a recording that's better yet but mine's done and I'll try to mail it out to tous today. Nice to see a number of the usual friends and family in attendance but we did miss jgoods as tous mentioned. He must be away enjoying his last week of summer vaca!
I was blown away when they opened with Ain't That A Sin as the last time Blake honored my request for it, they had to remember it. It's one of my very favorite songs so that got things off to a fine start. They riiiped up Christopher Street with a different arrangement of sorts with Rod and Andrew trading solo spots. Interesting and cool.
Daydream is a Blake & The Family Dog song that Trevor got them to pull out....Kudos to Trevor 'cause it's a real gem. Also congrats to Trevor on his upcoming marriage!
Two for Tousky went down again with the ever popular Misery getting the tous nod as well as More. Nice Abeline with some creative interplay well jammed. I also cannot hear On The Road too often.
So show number 20 for me and I still get blown away by this band....many thanks again for letting us record and hopefully y'all will be able to check this one out soon.
Wow sounds like another killer show. I am getting my Yarn fix on Friday. I can't wait. It's long overdue. I would love to get my hands on this show. Congrats to Trevor. Andrew is doing Jerry proud. I can't believe it's been 15 years.
But there's a banjo moon in a tie-dyed sky Hippies dance and babies cry Church bells ring as a silver-haired angel look down And the blood of his music runs through the veins of our guitars Bright lights, Dark Star
BTW, the show went postal to you today. Thanks so much for putting it up~
Ahhh, I recognize the Patchwork Quilt lyrics Earlbany. If you haven't yet, check out Ryan Adam's "Rosebud" off of Cold Roses for another great Jerry tribute. The live rocking version from Albany 6/3/05 is tops.
"..shes just a wooden machine, but you and rosebud your still singing to me"
Glad you captured the China Cat tease, sweet! I've just rediscovered my love for that song... oh please Yarn, could you slip in a China Cat > Rider??? :D
Dsaydream has such a nice jam. Aside from Daydream I loved hearing the road on friday in Brooklyn. It was a nice family dog surprise. The Family Dog had some killer songs.
Just listening to the stream...wow....sweet. tous, if you've snagged this, can you perhaps bring along a copy tonight? I know it's short notice so no biggie of you can't but I would dig the upgrade.
