You can count me in. I will be one of the many people on this ship of fools. Yarn jamming under the stars with the NYC skyline is going to be amazing. It's going to be one hell of a 3 HR tour on this Pirates Ball.

Grrr!!!! I don't think I can make the show. The concert is on a Jewish holiday. Rosh Hashanah Which is from the Sunset of September 8 through nightfall of September 10. I may have to be a bad Jew for a night. lol What to do?

Well, looks like this ol southern boy is gonna find his way north. I can't miss this one.
Need some help freaks....My self and another yarn spinner plan to fly in Friday morning,
    leave Sunday afternoon.

I don't really care about sight-seeing, etc. Looking for hotels in the area, tell me what area to search in NY
which will have me close to the load site. All I need is a place to reat my head and a neighbor bar to get
    my mind right.

Looking forward to it...and looking forward to YARN this Saturday down here in Georgia.

    From the Cruise website:

The Half Moon holds 200 - it's the smallest and rowdiest of our boats.

Their Sullivan Hall shows easily beat 200 tickets.

I see where the boat cruises around the Statue of Liberty for about 30 minutes as part of the trip. That's pretty awesome.

I see The Bridge is playing Fairfield on that Sunday night. Might make for a weekend. jgoods swears by that band, if I remember right.

I may just be talking myself into this one!

Perfect opportunity to convert to Yarnism! Yarnists worship Ten High, believe fervently in the almighty power of the jam and believe that there indeed is life after the encore!

Convert now, earlbny and save your soul for rock and roll!

For those looking for a place to stay, we just got a room off of Priceline for $130. Use the "name your own price" option and you should have some luck. We ended up at the swank Four Points By Sheraton Midtown - Times Square. Not too shabby and that price is a good deal for NYC.

...and, no, this isn't an open invite to an after-hours party in our room!

Good luck with the video...between the motion and the sightlines...may not be worth the hassle. Saw them on a motherfuckin' boat in Boston and the stage was only about 6" high so sightlines were challenging. Not sure about this boat though.

I do know one thing, though.

2 days to Yarn on a motherfuckin' boat!

WOW Yarn on a MF boat.

nice meeting ya'll, let's do that again soon !
  10.
As cliche as it is, I don't know where to start! Flew from work at the last school bell and being rural folks, the ride into the city is always cause for concern/alarm/panic, esp down the East side where we haven't been. Pleasantly, our travels were unremarkable and we even ended up with a VIP parking spot beside the Marina entrance. Upon pulling in, we met the band as they were boarding so I went along onto the boat bringing Ricky's bass in for them.

Me and tangled then made it down a couple of blocks to Mcswiggins and settled in for a pint. I approached a group of five and said I'm meeting someone I haven't met, any of you folks know a Ponz? Well I discovered that I had stepped into Ricky B Nation ;) Ponz hadn't arrived but Rick's brother and friends introduced themselves, and it was very nice to meet all of them and then Ponz as he arrived. The Tous's were there so the land party began.

The boat was the smallest of the four at the marina but well appointed enough if not a little battle scarred from party wars. Made it upstairs to meet the sound man and get my gear set up. As promised, I brought my video camera and so began the Yarn on a motherfucking boat movie with Blake chatting with their artist friend and then into the deck to sweep the city. There I encountered earlbany with the epic moment being caught on tape ;)

The boat moving about took some getting used to.....sea legs if you will but man, at least we got to grab onto something occasionally. As we encountered boat wakes out on the river, the band had some challenging moments standing and playing but they all pulled it off well. I had my audio recorder running as the band opened with It's All Over Now but I was videotaping too. I handed the camera off to tangled to check levels and cripes, they were both pegged and reading overload. Crap, but in the end, it wouldn't matter. I ended up getting a significant amount of digi noise so I won't be able to save the audio.....sorry ‘bout that BUT, the very good news is that I made the effort to shoot a one hour DVD of the event so that's great fun. I filmed things in segments throughout the trip. I caught It's All Over Now, Daydream and Lovelight in their entirety and then snippets and jams as well as lights, bridges and the statue plus lots of crowd shots. It only has the camera audio so it can't really crank but it does a decent job as it did with the 4/3/09 Manchester show and it puts you back on the boat. Not sure if we'll post it somewhere or just mail it around but it'll get around shortly.

The band played another fantastic show. I'll have to figure out the setlist from the tape at some point but the highlights were the It's All Over Now opener, Daydream, Lovelight, Annie, Lonely Old Man and the usual killer versions of the regulars. Tous and Candy arrived wearing Yarn shirts printed with Yarn on a motherfucking boat on them and were the hit of the party, even getting the nod from Blake in the form of a stage introduction. That was fun and so the evening was thus titled! Got to catch up with Headzilla and Dawgsong too....Dawg, we lost you on the walk, we're not sure what happened. Backtracked a half a block but you guys were gone!

After some coffee and diner food with Tous & Candy, we were off on FDR Drive for the trip home that got us back at 4:00am. Whew, tired but elated we had just had more fun than we could have hoped for.

Thanks again Yarn, we always leave in amazement~

Well, not much to add. Nice write-up RC. A true party-boat for sure. MVP awards to everyone in the band for playing through some rough seas at times (gigs like this are where it pays to be the drummer, right Bobby?).

Good spirits all around though. Hometown crowd enjoyed the hell out of this show right down to the Outlaw/Lou Reed sing-along at the end.

RC pegged the highlights of the set. Opening with "It's All Over Now" was a bit of a nice surprise.

Good to see everyone again. NYC rocks.

...oh, and we definitely like the sound from Rod's new/old Gretsch guitar. Look forward to hearing it more without having to concentrate on staying upright!
