I'm going to check with the band tomorrow night and see if they will allow me to try to stream the show. This is going to depend on the availability of AC power and a wi-fi signal. I'm surprised how easy it was to set up. I'm streaming Dirk Quinn Band show from 4/27 as a test at:
hoppedup, can we talk about this process, I'm really curious. Been looking into it for a while and would love to know how you set it up. I picked up a palm pre plus which is it's own hotspot so wherever I get cell service, I have a an internet connection on my laptop, would love to be able to do this. I you get time, shoot me an emial at brion(dot)green(at)gmail(dot)com and maybe we can discuss.
Thanks again for taping man, really appreciate it!
The show I streamed the other day was already on my laptop. Tonight (say 8 p.m. EST or so) I will try to stream Saturday night's Yarn show at the same address above, straight from the headphone output of my recorder, just like at a show. I might need some guinea pigs to help me troubleshoot. Levels will be a little low as it is a raw file and I run conservatively in 24 bit and boost in post. When I get the process dialed in, I'll let you know exactly what I did.
The doors were at 7 for this show. It's a brewery tasting room, so I figured they just wanted more time to move some beers. I figured Yarn would go on around 10. I arrived about 7:50 to find out the band was supposed to go on at 8. What!!?? Luckily they went on around 8:30, so I had plenty of time to set up. I wasn't getting much of a signal from the wifi so I bagged the stream idea. I wasn't close to an outlet and my old craptop battery would have died after about 45 minutes.

Streaming raw file right now from laptop. Will try the field method tonight when I have a patch cable. Let me know through the chat if it comes through okay.
I would just ask that if you record this stream, keep it to yourself, as this is a low-quality stream rate. The show should be posted on archive in the next few days.
'First time I hear "I've Seen the Difference"...man, I like it! I mean, it's no Misery.... "
Nor is it Country. I don't see Yarn as a Country band at all and I think it's a disservice to refer to them that way. Alt-Country perhaps...Americana perhaps. New newer songs esp aren't very country sounding.
If this one gets up before the weekend, could you snag am a copy for Saturday tous?
I'm stuck on a God damned $%^$&^^%$$#@ dial up in my rural home in Western MA and I can't DL at work so I'm stuck waiting for kind folks like tous to snail me copies of stuff. I know that theoretically, I could DL a show on dial-up but our connections are suspect as well so I'm sure I'd experience muliple kick-offs before it completed. Someday, we'll move into this century.
In the meantime, I appreciate folks helping me out. I also really appreciate you taping for us. I'll be taping Saturday for you! John D may show up and work his magic as well.
So thanks, I'll be able to crank this one on the way home from Saturday's show.
Just listened to this this morning while perusing my archive page for something to listen to. Damn fine set for dudes who had been on the road for 32 days.
