This one just went up. Very psyched that it's a music cafe, it's only two hrs away, it's after school lets out for summer and it's all ages so my 12 year old guitar slinger can catch his first Yarn show!
Caffè Lena, Inc. 47 Phila St. P.O. Box 245 Saratoga Springs, NY 12866
Hey yall, any idea when the tickets for Cafe Lena go on sale? I been checking. I waited too long last year and I am trying to avoid that happening again.
Wow, March 11th seems like a long time ago. Nice to catch up with Buckheart again~
Killer set with a whisper quiet crowd in a small listening room. Very intimate....the kind of thing that makes Blake's skin crawl! ;) There was no alcohol served so he couldn't party up the crowd and just had to deal and deal he did~ after a very tough day, long drive upstate and not feeling well, he and the whole band kicked it out big. Setlist and more in the a.m.
Made the trek up to Saratoga at mid-day so we didn't have the hectic trip the band did and we lesiurely found the cafe. Nice area of town with plenty of bars and restaurants around the local blocks.
The manager dude was accomodating and allowed me to set up in an optimun spot for taping. As I said above, it was a very quiet and attentive audience. In fact, it's refreshingly required at Cafe Lena with Shhh cards placed upon tables. At only one point, a table started to get loud and manager dude shut them down.
The sound mix was excellent with everybody balanced nicely including plenty of Trevor which doesn't always happen. So with the right spot, zero crowd noise during the songs and a solid mix, the recording came out as well as my rig allows. Very enjoyable to hear the quiet parts as if it was a studio. The only glitch was a slight hum in the sound system.....not real noticable.
Roadhouse Alone On The Weekend NYC Found Time Burns On Bad Bad Man Annie Singing Jim Croce (New Song) More Don't Break My Heart Again Take Me Out Misery I've Seen The Difference Strikes And Gutters Nothing But Time Music's Only Outlaw Wanted To Get High Abeline Schenectady encore: Jackson
Another expertly played show with lots of fun banter as a number of friends and family of the band were in attendance. Of course y'all are gonna love the new Jim Croce song....whiskey...singing croce.....cocaine.....Shane(in subject, not attendance).....all the regular good fun we've come to expect ;)
I'm gonna try to get out to Beacon today but it's a bit of a trek and it's only gonna be a short set. On the other hand, it's Yarn and I ain't seen jgoods and tous in a spell. I feel bad if I don't show up to tape too so maybe I'll make a bike trip West today.
Thanks Yarn for a terrific evening and I look forward to spreading around a really fine recording.
Source info? (recorder, mics, pre-amp, configuration, location?), Lineage? (transfer, post-processing?)Taper geeks like to know this stuff.
tous, your text file is all jacked up with regards to track numbers. You need to fix it and re-up.The whole upload process for LMA is fickle and making changes can be a PITA. You'll need to go back and edit the set list as well.
I didn't realize LMA allowed anything other than flac or shn.
Thanks for the recording Reckless! Its sounds amazing and this is one heck of a setlist, with all the new and rare stuff! Passed it on to my family and friends and we are all enjoying it! Can't wait to hear the Beacon Riverfest show as well. Appreciate you making the trek out. Good to see you.....

Lol!
Taped by John Christinat Audio-Technica 4071 shotgun mics>Beyer pre-amp>Sony D8>Sony RCD W500C Burner
......maybe you could add that to the listing tous if it's not too much trouble.
So glad everyone's diggin' this one. I sure am~
tous, if they do this place again, you goptta make the trek. Oh, and as suspected, disc 2 of 5/8 exceeds the target so I'm re-mastering it again right now. Looking to get that and Riverfest into the mail to you today.
Buckheart, may I assume you can grab this? If not, lemme know and I'll snail it out to you.
Reckless I just got around to getting it. Really great recording and man what a show. My family and I had a great time. We talked about the show for days after. It was really like seeing the guys in my own living room(cept I would have turned up the AC). It was nice to hear the vocal play between Blake and Trevor. I haven't heard it as clear at any other show. Andrew playing his new ax "Bear", holy shit! Andrew is truly a monster mando man. And Rickey B, I thought he was going to melt at one point. Great show. I still wonder how it is that these guys aren't making millions. It just proves that the majority of the world is truly asleep! He Reckless, when we hit the lottery lets buy a big tour bus and name it Abilene, paint YARN on the side, stuff all the boys in it, and hit the road. Whatta ya think??
Ha ha, no, tapers commonly use their real name. Having been on music message boards for 12 years now, I have many friends and contacts in the trading and taping world and a few of them will recognize the name I'm sure.
Really excellent performance and recording, i've been listening non-stop since last nite. I keep thinking that Yarn just can't get any better and then i listen to a recent show, and i'm (gladly) proven wrong yet again. Just amazing. I haven't been able to see them live as yet (the band seems to bypass RI), but i've been listening to the recordings over at the LMA since last summer, good prep for when i do finally get to see them live. Thanks to the taper of the Cafe Lena show, the best i've heard this year so far. And thanks for the link to this forum, hope i can drop in from time-to-time. Yarn really is the best band i've heard in a long long time, i think i'm addicted, lol. Cheers.
what a fantastic show ...and great recording thanks reckless.... nice opening with Roadhouse....just love the part at around the 4 min mark where Andrew fires up the new mandolin and then rips it up.....
