Welcome, Guest

  1.
For those of you that haven't been to the Iron Horse.....dress warmly....there is a 7:00 show with 2 bands then a 10:00 show with Yarn and another band. I'm not sure how they handle the equipment exchange, but I've always seen them load from the front door. They make you wait outside, so dress for the weather!

    Northampton show....

Thanks for the advice and welcome to 5G yarnfollower. You will likely see me, tangled and tous there!

Just got off the phone with a Rep from the Iron Horse. I asked him about how stringent they are with their no taping policy as their FAQ says absolutely no taping at any of their venues....Iron Horse/Pearl St/Calvin. I have taped and seen taping at Pearl and the Calvin so I know they make exceptions.

The cat I spoke with checked with the manager who said no taping. Then the dude said that he does know of exceptions according to the band's wishes so I told him we'd bring gear, leave it in the car and ask permission that evening and he thought that was a good idea.

So that leaves us up in the air. Perhaps a few supportive words from Blake may gain us permission. If we cannot gain permission, over the years we've found there to be a fine line between sneaky and compliant ;)

I've taped several shows at the Iron Horse, granted it was from my Kodak camera. I wasn't in anyone's way. They were national acts too.

    It's Yarn eve!

    Who's in for this one?

Leaving at 8pm for a 10pm show an hour away seemed about right.....till the weather moved in and kicked our ass. Leaving from Western, MA we could do no more than crawl along at 30mph in several inches of show. Clear roads would have gotten us there just in time...at this rate, we were clearly going to miss half the set. With tangled a ball of nerves, we decided to call it quits and turn around at the Westfield exit. About two miles from that exit, what do you know, the snow lessened and by the time we got to it, the roads were just wet so being able to go 65 again, we pushed on. Got to the Iron Horse to discover that the bands were running late and fortunately, we had plenty of time after all.

Blake and I asked the door dude about taping and he really did his best to say what-I-don't-know-won't-hurt but still, there was no way I could set up a stand and mics. The next stroke of luck was having our buddy John D show up. You see, all venues allow taping, they just don't know that they do ;) Nuff said there.

Sure I'm missing a couple but it was about an hour and a half set. Excellent playing all around with the whole band in attendance. Very refreshing to see Yarn at a music hall where folks actually listen to the music although the crowd had thinned out a bit as it got late. Missed you jgoods but the rest of the jgooders represented you well~ Have fun tonigh with it being Chris' last time with the band. Thanks and have a good trip home Chris. Also got to meet yarnfollower briefly to say hello and give out some recordings....hope to see you on May8th in Manchester.

So that's that, a bitch of a trek to get there but worth it as usual. The whole night I watched it snow steady out the window so I braced for a nice three hour ride home but strangely enough the plows, salt or temp won out and the roads were pretty much just wet so we got home by 3pm.

    As always, thank you Yarn~

just in from work>got home and got the call. sheesh...now dog2 time. listening to a few bytes and sounds decent a few talkers for a bunch throughout.., 6 minutes in i moved up to get the sound where i thought it would be best, i tried to stand still for the whole show, NOT, a few sways in the sound likely as the old frame moved. first time i ran the set up i did last night. short show by my standards, one long set though that rocked out. curfew 1am next time do 3 encores and end @12.59. i'd have stayed for all three ;-) thank you yarn!!!! another great show

Thanks so much for this one tous and many thanks of course to John D for his heroic efforts to sneak it out. Damn, I almost attended a Yarn show that I don't have a recording of.

    Tragedy narrowly averted I'd say!
