Havnet been on in a while but made I made a point to get to New Haven last night. Great new venue right downtown. Sound was amazing, tons of great craft beer, stage and lighting supurb! Place was about half full but all those there were way in to the show.
This was was by far the longest stretch of months I have gone in ten years without seeing Yarn. Life, kids, etc. get in the way sometimes. Needless to say the band was on fire. I real high energy show with many rocking tunes throughout. And they really jammed into some spacey areas, my personal favorite Yarn sound.
While they all played with spirit and energy, it was Rod who once again stole the show for me. It seemed that every song he soloed on he took us on a techincal, soulful, Tele-induced ride that never disappointed. His playing improves more and more and he is a real treat to watch and listen to! I compare him most to Pete Anderson (and I say that with high praise). His sound, style, and ability to build a solo to a peak is truly someting to behold. The tone he gets out of his rig goes right through me and his talent was on full display last night.
Blake was in a great mood and sounded great, while Ricky B was the slapping, sweaty and nastiest best bass player we all love. And Bobby! You can tell being the road dogs they are and playing the amount of shows they do is just increasing their talents more and more.
An absolute joy to be a part of last night. Energetic crowd (3-4 sing a long songs), smiling band, great venue..... does a Thursday get any better? Thanks Yarn! Im ten years into seeing thier shows and looking forward to many more ahead.
Get your asses to NYC tonight. Those show are always special. Also, great seeing Mr. and Mrs. Tous as always. And no tapers, but lots of people recording on phones.
For the first time I decided not to even take my phone out but for one pic, so I didnt write the set. But the show was 1:50 in legnth (one set) and included:
Tennessee and Chirstopher St early, This is the Year, Long way to Texas, Hurricane (best of the newer ones I think), Now You're Gone, Annie, Down on Your Luck, Moonlight, Turn the Light Off, Bobby Weeks, Let me In, Im the Man, a killer Sioux city Gypsy set ender, Final Bow encore, and my favorite of the night Alone on the Weekend into NYC Found with extended band jam.

Great summary jgoods. No tapers huh? I guess my early years of stealth taping paid off ;). I was there setup in front of the right stack and got the board also. I agree the band came out fast and tight, ready to rock after being off since Saturday. Room sound was great and I too thought the lights were terrific for a small bar. Good vibes, dancers, and everyone there was into it. Always good to share the Tous’s company and say hi tonight jgoods!

Ha! Thanks cd2go! Not only didn’t I see you I didn’t see the mics at all! But so glad you taped and can’t wait to hear it. Would have said hello for sure if I noticed. Been a while as I said so off my yarn fans/tapers game I guess. Tonight will be great. There sooo good!
